Outrage: UN To Investigate The US For Racism

Via Gateway Pundit, the UN Human Rights Commission chaired by Libya and Cuba is going to research racism, xenophobia and intolerance in America. I guess we are not suffiently socialist for them and don't have a benevolent dictator like Castro or Ghadafi ruling us. Al-Reuters has the story.

A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.

The United Nations said Doudou Diene would meet federal and local officials, as well as lawmakers and judicial authorities during the May 19-June 6 visit.

"The special rapporteur will...gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," a U.N. statement said on Friday.

His three-week visit, at U.S. government invitation, will cover eight cities -- Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Race has become a central issue in the U.S. election cycle because Sen. Barack Obama, the frontrunner in the battle for the Democratic nomination battle, stands to become the country's first African American president.

His campaign has increased turnout among black voters but has also turned off some white voters in a country with a history of slavery and racial segregation.

Diene, a Senegalese lawyer who has served in the independent post since 2002, will report his findings to the U.N. Human Rights Council next year.

I am sure they will visit every single grievance group they can find like the ACLU, NAACP, La Raza(the race), CAIR, GLBT, and NAMBLA to name a few and if we don't elect Obama as president, allow open borders with full rights for illegal aliens or allow gays to marry it will be proof that we are a racist, xenophobic, intolerant nation. I have an idea, let's kick the UN out of the US altogether and quit giving them billions of our tax dollars to waste. Let the kleptocrats move to Brussels or better yet Havana or any one of the dozens of capitols around the world with serious issues of human rights abuses but, oh, that's right if they actually investigated those countries they could wind up in jail or dead.

Conflict In The Levant

If you are interested in what is happening in Lebanon the best place to look is Michael Totten's blog and Rick Moran's for coverage of the conflict and Obama's incredibly boneheaded statements on it. It looks like the Iranian and Syrian backed thugs of Hezballah painted themselves into a corner and are now looking for a way out. When Israel pulled out of southern Lebanon they lost the raison d'etre , their reason to be and are now seen by the majority of the Lebanese people for exactly what they are, proxies for Iran and its puppet Syria and a threat to Lebanon's sovereignty. Lebanon has one of the most diverse populations in the Middle-East and they have no desire to be ruled by a Tehran style Mullacracy or by the kleptocratic thugs in Damascus that Obama wants to sit down with for tea and crumpets. Mark Steyn says with it best with his usual style.

It says something for Democrat touchiness that the minute a guy makes a generalized observation about folks who appease terrorists and dictators the Dems assume: Hey, they’re talking about me. Actually, he wasn’t — or, to be more precise, he wasn’t talking only about you. Yes, there are plenty of Democrats who are in favor of negotiating with our enemies, and a few Republicans, too — President Bush’s pal James Baker, whose Iraq Study Group was full of proposals to barter with Iran and Syria and everybody else. But that general line is also taken by at least three of Tony Blair’s former cabinet ministers and his senior policy adviser, and by the leader of Canada’s New Democratic party, and by a whole bunch of bigshot Europeans. It’s not a Democrat-election policy, it’s an entire worldview. Even Barack Obama can’t be so vain as to think his fly-me-to-[insert name of enemy here] concept is an original idea.

Increasingly, the Western world has attitudes rather than policies. It’s one thing to talk as a means to an end. But these days, for most midlevel powers, talks are the end, talks without end. Because that’s what civilized nations like doing — chit-chatting, shooting the breeze, having tea and crumpets, talking talking talking. Uncivilized nations like torturing dissidents, killing civilians, bombing villages, doing doing doing. It’s easier to get the doers to pass themselves off as talkers then to get the talkers to rouse themselves to do anything. And, as the Iranians understand, talks provide a splendid cover for getting on with anything you want to do. If, say, you want to get on with your nuclear program relatively undisturbed, the easiest way to do it is to enter years of endless talks with the Europeans over said nuclear program. That’s why that Hamas honcho endorsed Obama: They know he’s their best shot at getting a European foreign minister installed as president of the United States.

Hamas And Hezballah Have Legitimate Claims?

Barack Obama seems to think so in this interview with David Brooks.

The U.S. needs a foreign policy that "looks at the root causes of problems and dangers." Obama compared Hezbollah to Hamas. Both need to be compelled to understand that "they're going down a blind alley with violence that weakens their legitimate claims." He knows these movements aren't going away anytime soon ("Those missiles aren't going to dissolve"), but "if they decide to shift, we're going to recognize that. That's an evolution that should be recognized."

Seems to me the only thing those terror groups and their Iranian sponsors claim is a desire to kill all the Jews and take Israel by force.
Bob Owens at Confederate Yankee takes a look at just what those groups claim and reiterates a point that the Woods Fund on whose board Obama served with American terrorist Bill Ayers gave money to a PLO moneyman.
Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director on the board of a nonprofit organization that granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a "catastrophe." (Obama has also reportedly spoken at fundraisers for Palestinians living in what the United Nations terms refugee camps.)
The co-founder of the Arab group, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, is a harsh critic of Israel who reportedly worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization when it was labeled a terror group by the State Department.

Khalidi held a fundraiser in 2000 for Obama's failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, at which Khalidi's wife, Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to AAAN for $35,000 in 2002.

In the same Brooks interview Obama also says that he admires Bush the elders diplomacy but as Max Boot points out GHW Bush had been an ambassador to China and the UN, served as CIA director and as Vice President thus building years of foreign diplomacy credentials. Just what has Obama done to get that kind of experience?
Noah Pollack notes that Obama seems to think the desire to drive the Jews into the sea can be appeased by better social services sponsored by the govenments dovetailing neatly into the standard lefty trope that poverty is what drives terrorism and not radical islamism. It also fits nicely with Obama's socialist belief that all problems can be solved with bigger and better government programs and social justice.
Psst, Barack, it doesn't help when President Bush talks about some people believing that appeasement works that you jump up and scream "He is talking about me" and then make historical gaffe after gaffe to defend your position. I know your faithful flock may be ignorant conspiracy nuts and anti-American elite lefties the rest of us aren't and you won't get away with empty incorrect rhetoric for much longer. Oh yeah, I forgot you were educated at Harvard, that elite institution of the left.

Where Is The Outrage On The Left

(That is the Obama mailer in Kentucky)
Remember all that outrage from the moonbats about that Mike Huckabee Christmas ad with the bookshelf in the background that resembled a cross, well where is the outrage over all the Obamesiah imagery being shoved down our throats? Well I hate to inform the moonbats that Obama is not the saviour of anything but the socialists' hope for change to Marxism and faith in big government which is what the moonbats want.
Cap'n Ed posted this amusing parody.

Here is that Huckabee ad for reference

New Tennessee GOP Ad

Via Hotair, is this an attack on Michelle Obama? The whiners in the Obama camp are sure busy playing victim again over it.
Are you proud of America?

Meanwhile President Bush made a wonderful speech to the Israeli Knesset today and the moonbats are going nuts over this statement.

Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: “Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.” We have an obligation to call this what it is–the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.

Obama's camp took it personally as an attack on his hopeness, its not like BO himself didn't say that he would personally meet with the world's worst dictators without preconditions in an early Democrat debate. What is telling is that the left as a whole took it as an insult revealing just how they think as appeasement minded surrendercrats. What President Bush said is true whether the moonbats like it or not. The moonbats are constantly running off to Syria to meet with Assad or Venezuela to rub their noses in that repugnant pig Chavez's crack when they're not singing the praises of the Castro regime. What are we supposed to do, offer them tea and crumpets in the hope they will change their ways out of faith? Well those are the key words of the Obamessiah campaign aren't they? After all they are the victim of their own misguided words and policies.

California Supreme Court Overturns The Will Of The People

They overturned a voter approved intiative that defined marriage as being between one man and one woman to allow gay marriage. We voted a few years back to uphold the traditional definition of marriage with 61% of the vote and more than a 1 mil vote margin but the Courts decided we were wrong and that it's against our State constitution but this was foreseen by traditional marriage proponents and we will get the chance to amend the constitution this November. This will help Republicans across the state as it will help draw conservatives to the polls and possibly help John McCain return the Golden State to the red column since Obama wants to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and appoint very liberal justices to the courts.

Hooker Chic For Little Girls

This is insane, dressing little girls to look like women of the night, Michelle has the story. I know my mom and sister have gone rounds with my sister-in-law over buying tacky inappropriate clothes for my niece and will not tolerate it. My niece is pretty enough without makeup and hooker-glam clothes and high heels. Can I go barf now? Little girls are not supposed to be sex objects unlike how Beyonce and her mother would like to portray them! Parents it is up to you to protect and educate your little angels in this sex obsessed culture by saying NO!

NARAL Endorses Obama

Another reason for conservatives to support McCain, the National Abortion Rights Action League has endorsed Obama while McCain has a 100% pro-life voting record. McCain is a social conservative he just doesn't talk about or make a big deal about it. I guess unborn babies have no hope for change under Obama who voted against a born alive bill as a state senator that would have protected babies born alive after a failed abortion.

The Economy Is Doomed But The Polar Bears Are Protected: Updated

I mentioned this the other day and now it has come to pass, the US Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the polar bear as a threatened species based on the flawed science of anthropogenic global warming and what MIGHT happen IF the polar ice were to melt. Hugh Hewitt and Icecap are the only folks that have talked about this and Hugh is uniquely qualified to discuss its ramifications as an environmental attorney when he's not on the radio or teaching Constitutional law. The green nuts will now use this listing to challenge any activity that produces greenhouse gasses under the Endangered Species Act and thus cripple the energy and development sectors of the economy thus the rest of it, forget drilling for domestic oil in Alaska or elsewhere, building coal fired electricity plants or building new manufacturing plants. This will cost the economy billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs as they go to India and China.
Granted that being listed as threatened is different than being listed as endangered but that will not stop the environuts from filing lawsuit after lawsuit to stop any activity they deem to threaten a species that is not threatened at all. Just like they used the spotted owl to severely curtail the timber industry in the North-West and kill many communities in California, Oregon and Washington. I used to be a member of the Sierra Club so I know how they work and think and that is exactly what they will do but this will effect everyone in the US and not do a damn thing to affect the climate that has been changing since God created it. Well the polar bear has been around for a very long time and survived when the climate was much warmer than it is today long before the industrial age or SUVs even predating modern man. Oh well they have long advocated we live in caves eating nuts and reducing the world population and that is exactly what their moonbat policies will do.
Update: I had a fun discussion at Michelle's on this topic mainly about eating bear and the right ale to serve with it.

Gazans For Obama

They seem to think Obama will be able to bring peace but if they want peace all they have to do is accept Israel's right to exist, stop launching rockets indiscriminately into Israeli towns and reject the terrorism of Hamas, etal. Despite what their agitprop and many in the western press say it is not Israel's fault the Gazans are suffering, it is their very own leadership's fault and the hatred spewed in the mosques and on their TVs daily. Israel wants peace, the palestinians don't. If they can't run Gaza how could they run their own country?

So Just Where Does Obama Stand In Regards To Israel? Updated

After years of cavorting with palestinian activists on Chicago's south side like Edward Said, Rashid Khalidi and Ali Abunimah, getting the endorsement of Hamas spokesman, Ahmed Yousef, and having as a Middle East advisor, Robert Malley, a known anti semite that has met with Hamas on numerous occasions, he is now trying to say he is a big supporter of Israel. Not to mention that his pastor has printed Hamas propaganda in the church bulletin or Nahdmi Auchi a Saddam Hussien sycophant. In a recent interview with Jeff Goldberg for "The Atlantic" Obama claims his friendship with a couple Jews hurt his early standing with his church and that because of those associations he is vindicated in his support for Israel but then shouldn't his other associates also be open for examination as he dismisses, Ayers, Dohrn, Rezko and the above mentioned?

The other irony in this whole process is that in my early political life in Chicago, one of the raps against me in the black community is that I was too close to the Jews. When I ran against Bobby Rush [for Congress], the perception was that I was Hyde Park, I’m University of Chicago, I’ve got all these Jewish friends. When I started organizing, the two fellow organizers in Chicago were Jews, and I was attacked for associating with them. So I’ve been in the foxhole with my Jewish friends, so when I find on the national level my commitment being questioned, it’s curious.

Philip Klein takes a deep look into just how big a hypocrite Barry O really is in a great piece for "The American Spectator".
THROUGHOUT THE CAMPAIGN, Obama and his staffers have dismissed any scrutiny of his views on Israel with a blend of outrage and sarcasm, as if his record of support for Israel is so extensive, so undeniable, that anybody who raises doubts about his actual views is launching an inquisition.

But as is the case with most issues, Obama is such a blank slate, and has such a thin public record, that voters are forced to parse his statements, sift through his past, and examine those he chooses to associate with to get a better sense of his underlying philosophy.

Obama has touted his foreign policy approach as a break from "conventional Washington thinking." As part of this approach, Obama has boasted of his willingness to engage in direct talks with our enemies, including Iran, without preconditions.

Iran has consistently been deemed the leading state sponsor of terrorism by the U.S. State Department, has vowed to annihilate Israel within the context of seeking nuclear weapons, and has helped finance Hamas. Why should it be beyond the pale to question the earnestness of Obama's vow not to negotiate with Hamas, when he has promised, as part of his sweeping program for change, to negotiate with its patron, which shares the same ultimate goal?

It's no secret that within elite liberal foreign policy circles, one of the primary laments is that the United States hinders peace in the Middle East by being too reflexively pro-Israel.

Well we all know Obama is an elite liberal steeped in left wing ivy league ideology that has sought out the most radical activists on the left most of his adult life as he even wrote about that fact in his memoir "Dreams From My Father". The Democrats are about to nominate a pretty boy effete marxist with a forked tongue or a Clinton and have backed themselves into a corner, at least we will be rid of the Clintons for a couple years. I do not think we will have to worry about an Obama/Clinton ticket as Michelle Obama will nix that as they do not want to be tied to the Clintons in any way, they would need a food taster on staff.
Update: Here is David Frum's take on the Obama/Goldberg interview.
(1) a condescending assumption that the so-called hawkish position on the Arab-Israeli dispute is "blind" and adopted by US politicians only because they seek political safety - there's no acknowledgement that the dovish position was ever tried or that it in fact produced a terrible war in 2000-2003;

(2) the attitude, common on the Democratic left, that real friendship to Israel consists in compelling Israeli governments to do things that most Israelis regard as dangerous;

(3) acceptance of the red herring that it is "settlements" that are the source of the Arab-Israeli dispute;

(4) enormous and unexplained confidence that he can solve a problem through his personal intervention.

*
I do not believe that Obama is in any sense hostile to Israel. I am certain that he would be honestly disgusted by anti-semitism in any form. But do I believe that he would be cavalier with Israel's security? That his belief that anything can be negotiated and that dialogue is always the answer exposes America's allies to risks? That his understanding of the origins and causes of the Arab-Israeli dispute is dangerously wrong? That he will "engage" Hamas and Hezbollah for exactly the same reasons that he will seek to "engage" Iran and Syria? Yes I do. He may consider himself Israel's friend. But he will be a dangerous friend - made all the more dangerous by the reluctance of many in the pro-Israel community to ask searching questions of this supremely evasive politician.

What Did Obama Know And When Did He Know It? Updated

Just what did the Obamas know about their church and its pastor Jeremiah Wright and when? Stanley Kurtz got a years worth of back issues of Wright's magazine "The Trumpet" and took a close look and concludes that either Barack is either blind, deaf and stupid or he knew it all from the beginning. This issue is not going to go away no matter how much BO wishes it would because he heard twenty plus years of Wright decrying that America is a country built on and sustained by racism and white supremacy yet his beloved Africa still has pockets of slavery and real genocide that have nothing to do with America. Does he not know that it was Arab muslims that ran the slave trade and still practice it today? Go read the whole piece but here is a snip.

I obtained the 2006 run of Trumpet, from the first nationally distributed issue in March to the November/December double issue. To read it is to come away impressed by Wright's thoroughgoing political radicalism. There are plenty of arresting sound bites, of course, but the larger context is more illuminating--and more disturbing--than any single shock-quotation. Trumpet provides a rounded picture of Wright's views, and what it shows unmistakably is that the now-infamous YouTube snippets from Wright's sermons are authentic reflections of his core political and theological beliefs. It leaves no doubt that his religion is political, his attitude toward America is bitterly hostile, and he has fundamental problems with capitalism, white people, and "assimilationist" blacks. Even some of Wright's famed "good works," and his moving "Audacity to Hope" sermon, are placed in a disturbing new light by a reading of Trumpet.

Also don't miss this excellent piece by John Kass on Obama's connection to the seamy underbelly of Chicago's uber-corrupt politics.
Unelectable to the tune of Unforgetable

Update: Don't miss this great post at Protien Wisdom looking at the NYT's profile of Obama and what it left out.
The article, for all of its flaws, reveals Obama as someone who purposefully sought to associate himself with with Leftists and radicals. The paper allows Obama to obscure the depth of those relationships, while suggesting that Obama has been willing to ditch his Leftist allies as he relentlessly climbs the political ladder. Whether Obama would leave his Leftist buddies in the lurch if he became President cannot be known. But the NYT profile gives little reason for anyone to believe he would be a great unifier or reformer in that office.

Update: Welcome to readers of Real Clear Politics! I got picked up by RCP, totally awesome!!! Go there and vote for me submitted by Dan53 under the title of this post.

Congratulations To Jenna Bush

First daughter Jenna Bush was married today at the Bush ranch in Crawford Texas and I am glad they did not allow the media to make a spectacle of their special day. I wish the young couple all the best and good on them for giving the hostile MSM the cold shoulder.

This Is Sweet

Nancy Pelosi is caught in McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform trap for appearing in climate change ad less than 90 days before primary. Hmm, did Newt know this when he participated in the ad with her? He isn't running foe office so it won't affect him in any way. This could also force Al Gore to reveal his donors, HAH.
HT: AoSHQ

The spot, which shows Mrs. Pelosi and Mr. Gingrich seated on a couch in front of the Capitol, is being questioned because the California Democrat faces a primary election June 3 in her San Francisco district.

“It’s prohibited,” a Republican campaign finance lawyer, Jan Baran, said. He said the ad constitutes a “coordinated” expenditure on behalf of Ms. Pelosi’s campaign by the group sponsoring the ad, the Alliance for Climate Protection. Any ad of that sort distributed in a candidate’s district within 90 days of a congressional primary or general election is deemed a campaign donation, Mr. Baran said.

“She’s in the ad. That means it’s coordinated,” a Republican attorney who battles to overturn campaign finance laws, James Bopp Jr., said. “I’m a guy that specializes in loopholes. I don’t know of any loopholes.”

How sweet, Pelosi was a big voice behind that screwed up bill and is the Democrat Speaker of the House now damaged by McCain's signature screw up.

Save The Polar Bear, Kill The Economy

There is an effort underway by warm-monger greenies to have the USFWS list the polar bear as an endangered species as a result of anthropogenic global warming that doesn't exist when in fact the bear population has been growing and is seen as very healthy since hunting was largely stopped. This is nothing but a back door route to have any activity that produces that dreaded plant food, carbon dioxide, and other "green house" gasses run through the Endangered Species Act and all the government restrictions and regulations that will come with it. This will cause a major problem in the creation of just about anything that needs energy. The polar bear is not endangered and neither is the polar ice they claim the bears need to survive as despite the continued rise of atmospheric co2 the planet has warmed zero in the last decade but has in fact cooled off a little.
Icecap as always has lots of good information and this report is also a very interesting read and details how political "solutions" to a problem that is scam and a myth don't work, like cap and trade or carbon taxing, but actually do devastating harm to the poor and developing nations as we are witnessing with the folly of ethanol.

Icecap Note: The environmentalists are worried with recent news of cooling, talk of future cooling due to the multidecadal ocean cycles and the sun, an arctic ice that has bounced back to highest level in 4 years and off western Greenland in 15 years. This push is not at all motivated by concern for the polar bears but as a maneuver to block any drilling for oil off Alaska and to facilitate state and federal government legislation action against the power industry and other sources carbon dioxide, now incorrectly listed as a pollutant. Technically this would even allow the government to tax you for using your lawnmower. Hopefully the Interior Department decision makers will see past the seriously flawed papers presented in support of the danger and heed the real experts and the real peer reviewed papers on this issue and have the courage to make the right decision

I agree with John McCain and Newt Gingrich that conservatives need to be involved in this debate over climate change in order to prevent the left from taking it over with the usual disastrous results that come from the socialists seeking to control the masses. I am all for cleaner technology to reduce pollution for the sake of reducing pollution not for some idiotic reasoning that man can control the climate through banning the use of carbon based energy sources.

Obama Senate Bill To Turn Over US Taxation To UN

Unbelievable but real, Obama wrote s2433 the Global Poverty Act that would turn over a certain percentage of our GDP to the useless UN kleptocrats to supposedly help fight global poverty in a serious redistribution of wealth from first world nations. Via the Jawa Report and Four Winds is this little item the MSM will never tell us.

Obama's bill S2433 would require the U.S. to initially direct .7 percent of our GNP into the United Nations coffers for distribution as they see fit, for "food" to third world nations. Under earlier agreements this would evolve into a national tax on the U.S. with the UN attempting to levy this on all first world nations.

The U.N. would have the power to increase this rate of taxation.

The U.S. would be required to surrender some of its sovereignty over foreign aid by putting it under UN control. The bill would force the U.S. to sign onto the U.N.'s Millennium Declaration, which would commit us not only to "banning small arms and light weapons" but also to adhere to the International Criminal Court Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol.

We all know how well those UN programs have worked before in Africa and Asia and they sure did a heck of a job disarming Hezbollah, not. If this doesn't scare the bejeebers out of you and send a cold shiver down your spine about what an Obama presidency would do nothing will.
More here and here
Spread the word, this needs to get out there!!!!!!!!!!!
Update: Follow the Four Winds link to find out just how awful this bill is, it gets worse, ack.
Plua he seems to think we have more than 50 states, 59 by his count.

Potential First Ladies

Most of us have heard Michelle Obama's bitter whiney rants on the stump that paint her as angry and unproud of a mean America and her continued talk of helping the poor in their Chicago neighborhood but what about Cindy McCain? Today's Patriot Post takes a look and compares the two since we know so little about Cindy besides being a beer heiress. It turns out she is quite the humanitarian and philanthropist of the genuine type not like the Obama's use as a political prop.

She went on to complete both a BA and an MA in education at the University of Southern California. Afterward, she began a career as a special-education teacher in Avondale, Arizona, working with severely disabled children.

She met John McCain in 1979 at a military reception in Hawaii. He was 18 years her senior. McCain and his first wife, Carol, were divorced in February 1980, and he married Cindy on 17 May 1980 in Phoenix. John has two adopted sons and one daughter, Sidney (1966), from a previous marriage, and he and Cindy have four children, Meghan (1984), John IV (1986), James (1988) and their adopted daughter, Bridget (1994). Cindy discovered Bridget in Mother Teresa's Bangladesh orphanage, which did not have the medical care facilities to provide surgery the child needed to survive. She brought the child back to the U.S. , she saw to it that the infant was nursed back to good health, and Bridget is now a healthy and vibrant 16-year-old.

The McCains had a difficult year in 1989, as Cindy became addicted to painkillers following two spinal surgeries for ruptured discs. She overcame that addiction with the help of her husband, family and friends.

In the following years, in addition to raising her family, Cindy was instrumental in several charitable institutions. She founded and was CEO of American Voluntary Medical Team, an organization that arranged medical assistance to victims of natural disasters or civil wars around the world. She has also been active with Operation Smile medical teams, taking trips to Morocco, Vietnam and India. She serves on the board of the HALO Trust, and she has been hands-on in operations to remove landmines in Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Angola and Kuwait, where she witnessed the death of a child from a landmine detonation. She is a board member of CARE, which assists impoverished women and children.

Cindy reminds me of Laura Bush and Michelle reminds me of Hillary Clinton, like Laura Cindy will not get involved in policy decisions of a McCain presidency while Michelle would likely be very much involved in policy decisions of an Obama regime.

Still trying to discern who Obama really is, we turn this week to the person who is closest to him, his wife and self-proclaimed senior policy advisor, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama. Hillary Rodham Clinton may have butted her way into a few policy issues during her husband’s presidential tenure, but Michelle Obama will very likely be dictating policy if her husband gets elected.

Go read the whole thing, it says alot.

Code Pinkos Resort To Witchcraft

Ahh to live in the land of fruits and nuts, I actually live where we have real orchards not of the moonbat variety like they grow in the Bay(t) Area. I saw this at Michelle's and about fell out of my chair laughing, Fox news has wider coverage of the various themes the pinkos are using to try to gin up flagging support for their ongoing protest at the Marine recruiting office in Berkeley. I knew these moonbats were pretty loony with their theatrics but this has to take the cake. Catherine Moy of Move America Forward reports on this latest effort by the pinko crones.

The radical anti-military group, Code Pink, finally shows the world what its membership is made of: witches and crones. Seriously. This week, Code Pink is holding a series of events and street theater to get themselves some more notoriety. You’d think it would be enough that they have attacked the Marine recruiting center and traveled the world coddling dictators and handing out money to terrorists’ families. But nooooooo!!!!

The witches of Code Pink plan to gather at their usual place of harassment, the Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Berkeley, and cast some spells to chase the recruiters away. From Code Pink’s Website:

“Friday, May 9th: Witches, Crones, Sirens: perform rituals of leaving, cast a spell of peace and love over the station, rendering nil the recruiting of our youth to become fodder for this occupation of Iraq.”

What, no warlocks or wizards were invited to participate in their incantations, how rude and discriminatory. Oh, its because its women's week to celebrate Mother's Day, how sweet of the hags.
The Marine recruiters find it to be an amusing change of pace and appreciate the free advertising, from the Fox article.
But if events this week are an attempt by anti-war protesters to remarket their cause, the Marine recruiters in Berkeley tell FOXNews.com that Code Pink's presence outside their office has helped — not hindered — their mission.

"Ironically, it's actually helped us by putting our name out. We're now well known. And people know who we are, and where we are, and they come in to talk to us about enlisting. They've gotten us the publicity that we could've never afforded to pay for ourselves," Wheatcroft told FOXNews.com.

"Just in the last three weeks, 10 people came in looking to apply, looking to become Marine officers, and that's much higher than normal," he said

HAH, Fox actually has a 24/7 camera set up keeping an eye on the pinkos.

John McCain On The Comedy Channel

John has a good sense of humor so he does well in this format plus it helps him reach a wider audience than going on the usual talking head shows of the alphabet networks. Via Hotair is the video clips.

I have had my gripes with Sen McCain over the years and have been a vocal critic of some of his more hair-brained policies but I agree with him 80% of the time and with the two Democrats 0% of the time so he has grown on me some as the campaign has progressed.

Happy 60th Birthday Israel!

Jawa Report has this tribute posted.

Update: I though John McCain said it quite well.

"I join all Americans in offering my heartiest congratulations to the Israeli people on the 60th anniversary of their state's founding. When President Harry Truman recognized the new State of Israel 60 years ago, he formalized a deep and enduring relationship between two great peoples. In so doing, President Truman undoubtedly knew that the Jewish state would face great challenges in its early years, and he signaled American partnership in the face of these threats.

"Yet those tests were not confined to the early years after Israel's independence. Challenges to Israel have perhaps been the norm, rather than the exception, and its people have been tested in the crucible of conflict time and again. Those threats continue, and it is incumbent upon all free people to stand by Israel in her defense of our common values and ideals. Survival in the face of these enduring trials would be impressive; flourishing would seem out of the question. Yet Israel has thrived, and her people have built a nation that is an inspiration to all those who cherish freedom.

"The close and enduring U.S.- Israel relationship has thrived as well, and I am proud to support the vital ties between our two countries. Our bond will be of great importance in order to continually fulfill that aspiration sounded so eloquently in the HaTikva: 'to be a free nation.' As Israelis celebrate 60 years of independence, let no one doubt that, while the challenges will continue, Israel will survive and it will flourish. There will always be an Israel, and there will always be a vital bond between our two peoples."

Sex And The City: The Movie

I have to wonder just who would go see an extended version of a TV show about three ugly gold digging whores in New York. Yes Sarah Jessica Parker is ugly, well maybe not that extreme but I would not invite her to my bedroom. I guess Hollywood really has lost it. I can say that if my date suggested seeing it I would leave her standing in the rain even if she belonged on the cover of "Glamour". The only TV show that I can think of as being worse that I have had the misfortune of actually seeing is "That Seventies Show". I'll stick to Bugs Bunny and Barney Fife, at least they had some class.
PS: Who was that awful dweeb squeaky toy that just sang on American Idol? Can I feed him to Rachel's ridgeback?

The Death That Started The 2nd Intifada

The death of palestinian 12 year old Mohammed al Dura and the propaganda spun from it via Hamas, the PLO and the western press had a huge role in inspiring the 2nd Intifada but it was based on a lie as most palestinian agitprop is since the cowards hide behind women and children. The evidence since revealed show the kid died from palestinian fire and not Israeli as this excellent documentary shows as he and his father were invisable to Israeli fire and well protected by their position though that fact did not stop the proagandists from siezing on it and starting a bloody uprising.
Video HT to Jawa Report for posting it, it is almost an hour long but well worth the time to watch. The google link is here with a bigger screen.

If I were Israel I would take the Sherman approach to Gaza, flatten and burn it. I have zero remorse for a people that teach their children hatred in its most virulent form and refuse to care even for their own while seeking the death of others. I have no sympathy for leaders that withhold food and fuel from their people in order to blame others for their suffering as Hamas is doing in the name of a country that never was and should never be and to think I supported the two state solution just a couple years back, blech, I am ashamed now.
Long Live Israel!

Barack's Bitter Half

The Michelle on our side takes on the Michelle on the other side and her bitter angry rants from the stump in support of her husband, His Hopeness. It is clear that Michelle Obama holds to the teachings of their pastor of two decades, Jeremiah Wright in her disdain for what makes America great despite her two ivy league degrees and tremendous success since. She may be as big a liability on the trail as Wright, Rezko and Ayers etal could be.

Are you ready for hope and change? Barack Obama better hope his bitter half has a change of attitude if she expects to assume the title of first lady in November. She’s been likened to John F. Kennedy’s wife, what with her chic suits and pearls and perfectly coiffed helmet hair. But when she opens her mouth, Michelle O. is less Jackie O. and more Wendy W. — as in Wendy Whiner, the constantly kvetching Saturday Night Live character from the early 1980s.

When last our worldviews collided, back in February, the other Michelle was expounding on her lack of pride in America. I gave her myriad reasons to cheer up — from America’s role in the fall of communism and our unparalleled generosity to our nation’s superior economic system, cultural resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and ingenuity. But since then, Mrs. Obama has dug in her $500 Jimmy Choo heels and solidified her role in the 2008 presidential campaign as Queen of the Grievance-Mongers.

That is a debate I would pay good money to see, Mrs Malkin vs Mrs Obama, our fiery, positive, attractive, conservative proud of America minority gal vs their fiery, negative, attractive, left wing liberal not proud of America minority gal.
I have seen portions of Mrs Obama's speeches on C-Span and Hugh Hewitt has played many clips on his radio show recently and frankly I am surprised at the anger she has pent up just below the surface despite her high level of success and prosperity.
Hugh has the audio posted from one of her speeches posted, listen if you dare to Barack's bitter half.

Barnyard Idol Wrap

Well its down to four wannabe stars and the two Davids are starting to run away with the show. Sayesha has had very strong performances the last few shows and could sneak in there though. The dreadlocked one Jason totally blew it tonight and should go back to being a coffee house crooner in some suburb of Seattle. I would say David Cook is the most professional and Sayesha the best performer but David Archuleta has a great voice and an adoring following of teen girls burning up the phonebanks. I can see David C. heading up a successful traditional grunge style rock band, Sayesha on Broadway and perhaps a solo album, with David A. fronting a pop boys band doing saccharine love ballads.
Bottom line, I don't like any of them, they all suck so I'll stick to Bach, Mozart and obscure guitarists since I absolutely despise pop music in all its forms from the '50s on and that is coming from a not so old metal-head.

Schism In The Democrat Party

Well it looks like Obama took North Carolina and Clinton wins Indiana but Marc Ambinder has this look at the exit polls and they point to a fiercely divided party.

Forget the horse race numbers for a moment: if the surveys are accurate, the polarization within the Democratic Party has reached critical levels. Nearly six in ten Obama supporters in Indiana say they would be dissatisfied if Clinton were the nominee -- that's (I believe) the high percentage of Obama supporters who have ever said that.

In both IN and NC, two thirds of Clinton supporters say they'd be dissatisfied if Obama were the nominee -- I believe that's the highest number recorded for that question, too.

The percentage of Clinton voters who say they'd choose McCain over Obama in a general election is approaching 40% in Indiana. Put it another way: in North Carolina, less than HALF of folks who voted today for Hillary Clinton are ready to say today that they'd definitely vote for Obama in a general election.

I expect the calls for Hillary to drop out to get ever shriller but why with Kentucky and West Virginia coming up, two states with strong Clinton support. This is going all the way to the DNC convention in Denver and the moonbats are promising to make a real party of it with a peace, love, drugs and anarchy tent city.

The Chronicles Of Narnia

I read CS Lewis' series years ago while immersed in the similar imagery of JRR Tolkien and Terry Brooks and saw the movie rendition of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" over the weekend. I was very impressed as I was with the "Lord of the Rings" rendition as they tackle the epic struggle of Good vs Evil. I recommend the Narnia series to parents whole heartedly for their children as all the books are fairly short and the imagery is such that young minds can easily understand with the talking animals and sense of adventure into fantasy. I may even have to drag myself to the theater to see the next cinematic installment of the series "Prince Caspian" but do see LWW first.

Barrack's Buddy Boogies On The American Flag

Hotair has more links and is where I saw it first. This is BHO's buddy Bill Ayers in 2001, so Barrack, what say you? They were on the Woods Foundation board together at the time giving gobs of money to all kind of far left groups.

Meanwhile Hugh Hewitt is playing clips from Michelle Obama's latest rant about a depressed oppressed America and how bad we are. She is about as wacky and radioactive as their pastor of two decades, Jeremiah Wright. Michelle, the only thing oppressing me is being over taxed and regulated by the likes of your husband and the socialism he supports. I do live in California so I have plenty of exposure to left wing ideology and why it doesn't work in practice. The kids don't learn the basics in school, they learn about being gay and how to put condoms on cucumbers or how to attend Code Pink and open border rallies in style. It is the land of fruits and nuts, figuratively and literally.

High Speed Battle Buggies

Dangerroom has this report that the Marines and SpecOps troops are looking for a high speed off road vehicle more like an armed dune buggy. This is a good idea considering the terrain of our current theaters of war in Iraq and Afghanistan bringing back memories of that old TV show "Rat Patrol" and jeeps running around the African desert with a mounted .50 cal machineguns that were the dream of all boys at the time. I think the designers should spend some time with the Toyota Racing Developement team and their design of the super-trucks they field for the Baja 1000, some seriously badass trucks as any offroad enthuseist can tell you. We now have so much armor on the Hummer that it is no longer the capable off road machine that it once was and even then its large size limited it and it never caught on with jeepers or the race crowd because of that. We need a smaller lightweight lightning strike vehicle that can be inserted easily by chopper and capable of traversing terrain that heavily armored vehicles never could while maintaining a low profile.

The Marines’ vision for the new vehicles will likely be shaped by their experience with the Internally Transportable Vehicle (ITV), a 4,000-pound, 65-mph, four-wheeldrive open-cockpit vehicle. In development since 2004, it passed tests last year at Twentynine Palms, Calif.; Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and Fort Greely, Alaska. Made by American Growler and General Dynamics, the $120,000 ITVs can carry a 2,000-pound payload and fire the Mk 19 grenade launcher, .50-caliber and M240 machine guns...

The Corps, which will begin fielding the ITV this summer, envisions buying 699 through 2015. But that could change, especially if the joint effort with the Army bears fruit.

The Army and Special Operations Command will soon look at Blackwater USA’s 100 mph Light Strike Vehicle. Still in the prototype stage, the 3,000-pound vehicle will have a 500-horsepower engine, 41-inch tires and a 2,500-pound payload.

“A vehicle with outstanding offroad capability and high axle articulation requires a compliant and loose suspension with maximum travel,” said Marty Strong, Blackwater USA vice president of communications. “These are the opposite characteristics required of a highspeed platform. Our suspension design spans both worlds by offering high articulation and extreme offroad performance, while still maintaining great manners when traveling at speeds approaching 100 mph.”

Another potential candidate for the program is the Tactical Autonomous Chassis-Combat (TAC-C) vehicle, which is being designed to be driven by a soldier or programmed to operate autonomously. Emerging from the Army Research Lab in 2005, the 85 mph TAC-C has four-wheel independent suspension, can make tight turns and can drive diagonally.

“It was designed with a lot of the know-how that is typically incorporated in the off-road racing circuit in order to handle high, rocky terrain,” said Kevin Bonner, lead engineer at General Dynamics Robotic Systems. SOCOM [Special Operations Command] wants a vehicle to handle weapons, reconnaissance and medical missions. They envision a 2,000 to 3,000-pound four-wheel-drive vehicle that can fly on a CH-47 [Chinook helicopter].

Sounds like they are going in the right direction if you ask me.

Don't The Euronuts Have Anything Better To Do?

This is as fruity as it gets, the Swiss are debating plants rights. Yes the kind of plants that grow out of the ground. The Weekly Standard has the latest on the moral equivalence of vegetables. This is what happens when God is removed from society and everything is anthropomorphised.

You just knew it was coming: At the request of the Swiss government, an ethics panel has weighed in on the "dignity" of plants and opined that the arbitrary killing of flora is morally wrong. This is no hoax. The concept of what could be called "plant rights" is being seriously debated.

A few years ago the Swiss added to their national constitution a provision requiring "account to be taken of the dignity of creation when handling animals, plants and other organisms." No one knew exactly what it meant, so they asked the Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology to figure it out. The resulting report, "The Dignity of Living Beings with Regard to Plants," is enough to short circuit the brain.

A "clear majority" of the panel adopted what it called a "biocentric" moral view, meaning that "living organisms should be considered morally for their own sake because they are alive." Thus, the panel determined that we cannot claim "absolute ownership" over plants and, moreover, that "individual plants have an inherent worth." This means that "we may not use them just as we please, even if the plant community is not in danger, or if our actions do not endanger the species, or if we are not acting arbitrarily."

Now I understand some protections for rare or endangered species but isn't this going just a little to far?

Barack Is Boiling Mad

I guess all the questions about his character after some his rather questionable friends and associates came out of the closet are getting to him. His wife Michelle certainly knows anger as many of her speeches have shown a bitter angry woman that has not been proud of her country despite her ivy league degrees and high level of success. I guess he is upset we aren't buying into his hopey changiness that hides his typical left wing politician policies. The Telegraph has a telling interview with Michelle about his anger problem.

Michelle Obama lifted the lid on the irritation felt by the leading Democrat candidate for the White House at the way anti-American outbursts by his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, have dogged his campaign.

He is said to be itching to turn all his fire on John McCain, the Republican candidate, who is benefiting most from Mr Obama's protracted tussle with Hillary Clinton.

Mrs Obama told a rally in Durham, North Carolina, on Friday that only her husband's desire to change US politics had helped him to control his feelings: "Barack is always thinking three steps ahead – what do we need to do to make change."

Shouldn't he be a cashier or a bank teller if he wants to make change so bad? He sure ain't qualified to be POTUS.

Riding Fine On The Taxpayer's Dime

Via Instapundit is this CBS2 New York story about a little known perk that congressmen get, a car leasing program that pays for everything and some are renting some mighty fine wheels with those funds. Of course the story doesn't mention party affiliation so that leads me to believe they are all Democrats since Charlie Rangel is one of them highlighted.

You may not realize it, but members of the House of Representatives can lease a car and have it paid for by you -- the taxpayer. And it's not just the car, but gas, registration, insurance … the works.

And as CBS 2 HD found out, there's no limit on how much they can spend.

Congressman Charles Rangel was recently seen getting out of his Cadillac DeVille, which he leases for $774 per month. Then there was Congressman Jose Serrano, getting out of his Buick LaCrosse, which he leases for $317 per month. And how about this one: Congressman Gregory Meeks was recently seen waiting for Congressman John Conyers to step out of Meeks' Lexus LS460, which Meeks leases for $998 per month.

All those leases are picked up by taxpayers through a little-known program available only to members of the House of Representatives.

Friday Feel Good

Yes good sportsmanship still exists, via Just One Minute is this story about a college girl's softball playoff game.

The moment of grace came after Sara Tucholsky, a diminutive senior for Western Oregon, hit what looked like a three-run homer against Central Washington. Never in her 21 years had Tucholsky propelled a ball over a fence, so she did not have her home run trot in order, gazing in awe, missing first base. When she turned back to touch the bag, her right knee buckled, and she went down, crying and crawling back to first base.

Pam Knox, the Western Oregon coach, made sure no teammates touched Tucholsky, which would have automatically made her unable to advance. The umpires ruled that if Tucholsky could not make it around the bases, two runs would score but she would be credited with only a single. (“She’ll kill me if I take it away from her,” Knox thought.)

Then Mallory Holtman, the powerful first baseman for Central Washington, said words that brought a chill to everybody who heard them:

“Excuse me, would it be O.K. if we carried her around and she touched each bag?”

The umpires huddled and said it would be legal, so Holtman and the Central Washington shortstop, Liz Wallace, lifted Tucholsky, hands crossed under her, and carried her to second base, and gently lowered her so she could touch the base. Then Holtman and Wallace started to giggle, and so did Tucholsky, through her tears, and the three of them continued this odd procession to third base and home to a standing ovation.

There's more details at the links.

The Obamas Whine About How Hard It Is To Be Ivy League Snobs

Via Hotair, the headline says it all, from this morning's Today show. They can't even hit softballs and I am left wondering just who??? wears the pants in the Obama household, I don't think its Barack. Michelle Obama is a force all her own much like an early Hillary Clinton and I can easily see her swaying and clapping in Wright's church from what I have heard from her.

Democrat Troll Asks McCain A Troll Question At A Townhall Event

Via Hotair and HuffPo is this snippet of a troll trying to get McCain riled up to test his temperment. I guess there is some slimey rumor swimming around in that petri dish that is the moonbat blogosphere about whether McCain called his wife some derogatory dirty names as alleged in some book. McCain handled it perfectly and moved on to the next person. I know John is a master of the towhall forum and loves doing them while interacting with the people but he is going to have to be very careful about trolls looking for a "macaca" moment armed with high powered cell phones. The left knows it can't win on policy so they have to resort to the lewd to try and damage an opponent.

Huffypo has more but since I refuse to link to them you will have to go through Hotair but the donkeyhole troll is/was a Biden supporter, figures.

Hillary Enters The No Spin Zone

Via Allahpundit of course, O'Reilly and Clinton flirt for the camera. Hillary actually does quite well in the direct interview setting even with the evil Bill O'Reilly and can be, dare I say, almost charming. She is a fairly experienced diplomat after Tuzla you know.

The Fred Is Back On The Trail

Fred Thompson will be with John McCain for a couple events in North Carolina, this is a good thing as many of the Fredheads I know were the most upset about McCain. Huckabee and Romney have already been on the trail with John with both seemingly angling for the VP slot but Fred having rejected that idea is just out helping an old friend win support. So now all the major GOP candidates are behind the McCain campaign and should solidify support in conservative GOP circles, this is especially true now that the DNC has become the gaffe circus with all the fruits and nuts on display.
Obama and Clinton are now both politically very damaged candidates as November comes into focus while Pelosi and Reid do their best to destroy whatever credibility the Dem controlled Congress has left. The left is losing it and it will drive them even more mad as the hippie brigades roll into Denver.
Pass the popcorn we're through the previews and the real show is about to start.
We all knew Hillary is as dirty as they come but who would have thought His Hopeness would have all that dirt in his closet, Wright, Rezko and Ayers, Oh My!, not to mention his betrothed and her rants?

This Is The Bush I Like

Via Allahpundit, Bush s;ams the Whitehouse press corps.

Small World

I received an email from the McCain campaign today which is not a surprise since I signed up for them about a couple fundraiser appearances here in NoCal in the near future. What struck me was the name of one of the hosts, a very uncommon name, Griff Harsh.
My late father taught math at a small private liberal arts college prep school in Alabama and as a faculty kid I had the good fortune of being able to attend, and the Harsh family sent a few boys through that truely excellent education so the name is well known by alumni of my generation.
The Griff Harsh my family knows went on to become a highly successful neuro/brain surgeon so if it is the same person it would not surprise me, glad he is on the right side.
Anyway, if anybody wonders where they can find a world class education for their college bound youngster send me an email and I will point you to one of the best.

Obama's Wright:Updated

With the wacky pastor back on the scene with a couple big appearances over the last few days I listened to a couple of his speeches and sermons and put two and two together. Wright is simply spewing the typical rhetoric of the moonbat left and glossing it up with some Biblical imagery. Its the same rhetoric you hear and see at anti-war rallies, the same conspiracy theories that run rampant around the nutroots of the left, the same support for communist dictators. This is what the left believes so it easy to see how Obama as a far leftist who surrounded himself with far leftist friends and associates could be a longstanding patron of Wright's church and not find what he was saying offensive. What Wright says is not too different from what unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers says in a speech in 2007, this is what the far left believes and Barack is their man. What Obama didn't realize was that outside of the elite echo box of the academic left that a vast majority of Americans would find those views disgusting like the telling "bitter" gaffe to the elite uber-rich left at a high dollar fundraiser in San Francisco.
He has been exposed as the far left liberal he is and now the far left is furious that we would even bring it up like its not relevant or something to his policies.

Update: Allahpundit clipped footage of Obama's press conference today about his crazy uncle's antics, they stung him bad politically and now he has to throw that crazy uncle under the bus.

Defining Victory In Iraq

Frederick Kagan does a good job of explaining just what victory will look like and how that picture is shaping up in this must read piece from the Weekly Standard.

Virtually everyone who wants to win this war agrees: Success will have been achieved when Iraq is a stable, representative state that controls its own territory, is oriented toward the West, and is an ally in the struggle against militant Islamism, whether Sunni or Shia. This has been said over and over. Why won't war critics hear it? Is it because they reject the notion that such success is achievable and therefore see the definition as dishonest or delusional? Is it because George Bush has used versions of it and thus discredited it in the eyes of those who hate him? Or is it because it does not offer easily verifiable benchmarks to tell us whether or not we are succeeding? There could be other reasons--perhaps critics fear that even thinking about success or failure in Iraq will weaken their demand for an immediate "end to the war." Whatever the explanation for this tiresome deafness, here is one more attempt to flesh out what success in Iraq means and how we can evaluate progress toward it.

Iraq is swiftly becoming a stable and strong ally of the US in the fight against radicalized islamo-terrorism. The Iraqi people of all sects and athnicities have rejected the extremist's forms of sha`ria as imposed by Al Qaeda or the Mahdi Army and are tired of the thuggery and violence the extremists bring with them. The Iraqi people are fighting and dying to free themselves from the grip of tyrants including religious ones, we should help them succeed. Success builds on success and the Iraqi people are seeing it and responding.

Obama Sits Down With Chris Wallace

It was a good interview and in my opinion did not help Obama as he still left himself open to being clueless about the economy and what capital is and why taxing it is a bad thing. He also in a round-a-bout way admitted Wright, Ayers and Rezko are legitimate concerns for us bitter small towners that own guns and cling to our rights as granted by our Creator.
Then I see this article from some big city liberal talking down his long blue nose to the Scots-Irish and the south in general because we won't fall in line with his big city elite socialism and behave as good little tax payers should. Well this American of Scots-Irish descent has a place for big city moonbats, like you Mr Michael Hirsch, it is in the sty with the rest of the socialist pigs.
It's OK, I BBQed some pork country ribs, cracked a beer, switched channels between baseball, golf and NASCAR and gave my guns a loving glance or two .

Cool

( yes the picture is mine, the Yosemite high country frum the summit of Mt. Dunderburgh, 7/4/99)
"The Call of the Wild" is on the TV, one of my favorite novels of all time, it has long been part of me.

For My Many Fredhead Friends

Allahpudit put up this clip of Fred's sitdown with Sean Hannity incase you missed it or like me doesn't have FOX news in their cable package/ They of course have the transcript and the rest of the interview video online. Fred and Sean discuss the VP question and Barack Obama.

It's not in the video but I found this exchange worth noting about John McCain.

HANNITY: What do you say to conservatives that were supporting you because they deemed you as more conservative that maybe had some issues with Senator McCain?

THOMPSON: I would say to my friends that, on all of the issues that are most important to this country and to our future, and to the future generations, John McCain is solid on. Certainly national security, with regard to the tax issues, with regard to trade policy, which is an important part of our prosperity also, all those things he's been strong on for a long time.

He is one of the few people in the United States Congress, if not the only one, who over a period of several years, who stood strong on pork barrel spending and wasteful government spending and so forth, you know.

And one of the things that we're going to need in a leader going forward in this country, and one of the things we're going to need to get somebody elected president on the Republican ticket in these times that are very difficult for Republicans, is someone with credibility.

John's solid. I don't agree with him on everything. I didn't during the campaign. But on the fundamental core issues, he is rock solid. And he's honest. And he does what he thinks is right.

Sidenote: Don't miss my guest blogger Bar's great post below, another must read.

Reverend Jeremiah Wright Wants Context

Obama's controversial pastor was on lefty sycophant Bill Moyer's PBS show and complained that his statements had been taken out of context, a valid complaint. Well Hugh Hewitt played two of those sermons in full today on his radio show and the full context only makes the soundbites worse, Jeremiah Wright is simply an anti-American hate filled racist bigot of the worst sort and Obama along with his family sat in his pews for over two decades. If you wish to indulge yourself in his vitriolic rants Hugh has the audio posted here.

Obama Camp Plays First Race Card Against GOP

Via Cap'n Ed at Hot air, Hey Obama camp I don't like Obama because he is a far left marxist liberal extremist just like I don't like Bill Ayers it ain't got a damn thing to do with his race. Yeah I'm bitter because jackasses like you like to call me a racist because I won't vote for your golden boy of hope and change that spouts old failed policies as new and improved socialism.

Q: Well, one of the things to which some Democrats point — the Clinton campaign has not said this publicly at least, but one certainly hears it in talking to supporters in more of a background way. Look at the racial polarization in the last several contests — Pennsylvania, Ohio, Mississippi — is that going to be a problem? Is race going to be a problem for Barack Obama in the general election?
Plouffe: We really don’t think so. I mean the vast, vast majority of voters who would not vote for Barack Obama in November based on race are probably firmly in John McCain’s camp already. And I think if you look at the Democratic voters who are voting for Senator Clinton in some of these states, when you sort of look beneath it and you project how this is going to happen, Barack Obama is going to be the Democratic nominee. He is going to be articulating policies and ideas that they believe in. They won’t agree with John McCain on issues like the economy and health care. And so I think that we are going to get the vast, vast majority of Democratic voters

La Raza Student Group Takes Over Bridge

Pride at 60

In anticipation of Israel's 60th birthday on Yom HaAtzmaut, the writers at Tzipiyah have envisioned an amazing project which they have asked me to contribute to. I have been asked to write about the 4 accomplishments of the State of Israel of which I am most proud. Since I will be leaving in a week, and it will be yom tov in a few days, I have decided to post them now and leave them until Yom HaAtzmaut.

1) JEWISH PRIDE

They came running through the streets like lions, dropping from the skies, guns blaring, fire burning. They ran, in the spirit of David and Joshua, Judah the Maccabee and Bar Kochba, full of courage and bravery. Their enemies fell before their in fear and shame, as they streamed towards the Kotel, the most holy and awesome place which had been denied to them for so long. Who were these men? What sort of people were they? Were they the Jews, the people of the gas chambers and ovens? Were they the same people that had long been associated with death and persecution, with helplessness and passivity, fighting their enemies? Is it possible that a nation that had been taunted for so long, that was rounded up from all of Europe for annhilation, asserted itself and stood up strong?

The establishment of the State of Israel and the amazing turn-about of Jewish fortune following the Holocaust is nothing short of miraculous. There is no parallel to this sort of reversal in all of the annals of human history. One third of the Jewish People had been consumed in the cruel fires of the Nazi war machine. The survivors were downtrodden and ashamed. "Even all the nations shall say 'Wherefore Why has HaShem done this to His land? What is the meaning of the heat of this great anger?'"(Deut 29:24) From this crushing defeat there would be no respite. The downtrodden Jew would finally disappear into the dust of history. And yet in the ashes of such an evil blaze, like a phoenix, the Jewish nations rose again. "'Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say: Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off... Thus saith the Lord G-D: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, O My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, O My people. And I will put My spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I will place you in your own land; and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken, and performed it, saith the LORD." (Ezek. 37:10-12) The Jewish nation arose once again, and like a firebrand plucked from the fires of the Holocaust, defeated a mighty army of one million well-trained Arab soldiers committed to driving the fledgling state into the sea. The world saw with crystal clear vision, and again in 1967, that G-d had never divorced Israel. For two thousand years of exile, the Catholic Church had taught the hideous doctrine of the Witness, that the Jewish People were designated to be a sign to show how wretched life would be for those who rejected their god. G-d had replaced Israel and now they were dejected and low. The miracles and triumphs of 1967 was the best refutation of such a perversion ever. The State of Israel shows that G-d still loves His people and that He has great things in store for them.

2) THE INGATHERING OF THE EXILES

As we head towards the Kotel, we are joined by thousands of our brethren from hundreds of dispersions, from Poland and Russia, Morocco and Tunisis, Ethiopia and India, all going towards the same place, the Holy Wall. Three times a day for two thousands years, Jews in the cramped ghettos of Warsaw and Lublin, the squalor of the Pale of Settlment, the melahs of Casablanca and Fez, had turned like spiritual magnets towards Jerusalem to beseech the Holy One, Blessed be He that "our eyes may behold Your return to Zion in mercy." Never did they forget to pledge "Next year in Jerusalem!" at the close of every Passover seder and Yom Kippur feast. Despite promises of emancipation and acceptance, we never forget that we were but strangers in a strange land, ever waiting the day when we would come home.

Following the Establishment of the State of Israel, one millions Jews from Arab lands who had lived there since time immemorial were expelled, leaving behind many millions of dollars in property and goods. The State of Israel took them in and despite many problems and setbacks along the way, successfully integrated them into society. On the streets on Israel, one can see the most amazing diversity: black-hatted hareidim with Yiddish accents alongside gutteral Sepharadim, Jews from America and the UK with native born Sabras, Jews from the former Soviet Union, liberated from Communist oppression with the Jews who worked so hard to ensure their freedom, fine-featured and delicate Ethiopian Jews with lily-white Ashkenazim. Oh, the Jewish nation has come home!

3) TORAH AND JEWISH RENEWAL

In the Diaspora, Judaism is in a very dangerous lethargic state. With rampant assimilation and intermarriage, great ignorance, a proliferation of cults and missionaries and rising anti-semitism, prospects are not looking good. Despite all of the problems in Israel, it is the only Jewish community that is growing, and flourishing. The Torah community is very strong and the land is full of yeshivot and Torah learning. There is truly a fulfillment of the verse: "For out of Zion will go forth Torah and the word of G-d from Jerusalem." Israel is the only place in the world where a committed Jew can live a full Jewish life instead of compartmentalizing his identity to when it is most appropriate.

4) ISRAEL'S TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES

Israel is one the world's most technologically advanced societies. Just the other day, a scientist invented a method of being able to write halachically on Shabbat. Since the prohibition is on writing permanently, this shabbos pen allows you to write something down and it will disappear three days later, once one has had enough time to photocopy the info.

Here are some facts about Israel's scientific advances:

Israel has more museums per capita than any other country.

Medicine... Israeli scientists developed the first fully computerized,no-radiation, diagnostic instrumentation for breast cancer.

An Israeli company developed a computerized system for ensuring proper administration of medications, thus removing human error from medical treatment. Every year in U. S. hospitals 7,000 patients die from treatment mistakes.

Israel's Givun imaging developed the first ingestible video camera, so small it fits inside a pill. Used to view the small intestine from the inside, the camera helps doctors diagnose cancer and digestive disorders.

Researchers in Israel developed a new device that directly helps the heart pump blood, an innovation with the potential to save lives among those with heart failure. The new device is synchronized with the heart's mechanical operations through a sophisticated system of sensors.

Technology... With more than 3,000 high-tech companies and start-ups, Israel has the highest concentration of hi-tech companies in the world (apart from the Silicon Valley).

In response to serious water shortages, Israeli engineers and agriculturalists developed a revolutionary drip irrigation system to minimize the amount of water used to grow crops.

Israel has the highest percentage in the world of home computers per capita.

Israel leads the world in the number of scientists and technicians in the workforce, with 145 per 10,000, as opposed to 85 in the U. S., over 70 in Japan, and less than 60 in Germany. With over 25% of its work force employed in technical professions. Israel places first in this category as well.

The cell phone was developed in Israel by Motorola, which has its largest development center in Israel.

Most of the Windows NT operating system was developed by Microsoft-Israel.

The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel.

Voice mail technology was developed in Israel.

Both Microsoft and Cisco built their only R&D facilities outside the US in Israel.

The AOL Instant Messenger was developed in 1996 by four young Israelis.

A new acne treatment developed in Israel, the ClearLight device, produces a high-intensity, ultraviolet-light-free, narrow-band blue light that causes acne bacteria to self-destruct - all without damaging surroundings skin or tissue.

An Israeli company was the first to develop and install a large-scale solar-powered and fully functional electricity generating plant, in southern California's Mojave desert."

Am Yisrael Chai!

Bill Ayers Video From 2007

After listening to the whole uncut speech I can see why Barack and his wife befriended Ayers and Dohrn, there are many many similarities in their socio/political philosophy. These videos are very worth watching and thoroughly explain the talking points of the moonbats today. They are not long, with a hattip to Hugh Hewitt for posting them.

The really scary part is Ayers is a professor of education, he teaches future teachers and is vice president of a 25,000 member teachers organization responsible for developing curriculum for our kids. I can't think of a better argument for home schooling. Please follow that link as it will tell you alot about the state of our puplic education system as well as that of supposedly higher ed and why its going down hill. Hattip to Michelle Malkin.

America’s historical ideal of public schooling as a means of assimilating all children (and particularly the children of new immigrants) into a common civic and democratic culture is already under assault from the multiculturalists and their race- and gender-centered pedagogy. Now Ayers and his social justice movement, by dismissing the civic culture ideal as nothing more than “capitalist hegemony,” subvert the public schools even further—while subsidized by the taxpayers, including the capitalists who supposedly control the schools.

And it’s not just from his government-funded outpost at the University of Illinois that Ayers is spreading the word about radical social justice teaching. He maintains a busy lecture schedule at other ed schools around the country, and he does teacher training and professional development for the Chicago public schools. All that still leaves him enough time to give nostalgic lectures on college campuses about his Weather Underground experiences.

There is also lots more here that I would encourage all my friends with school age children or grandchildren to read and take action against at the local level. This is the type of education Obama wants, the education of victimization, oppression and radicalism in identity group politics. It is rampant here in California, they sure aren't learning reading, writing, history, geography or arithmatic, they learn what it means to be gay or muslim and how evil America is.
