There is more than one reason I am optimistic that the DNC will make little if any gains in congress this cycle or next and may even lose some seats as the GOP gets its message to its constituents and the donkeys are all about running away from problems. First, the economy seems to be cranking rightalong as "the greatest story never told" according to Larry Kudlow among many others.

Exactly 25 years ago, Ronald Reagan signed into law the first supply-side tax cuts since the JFK plan of the early 1960s. By reducing high marginal tax rates, Reagan transformed the American economy and opened the door to two-and-half decades of prosperity. Economic behavior responds significantly to the incentive power of low tax rates that raise the after-tax return on work, investment and risk-taking.

Over this time span, the United States has experienced only six quarters of negative GDP -- a remarkable performance. Roughly 45 million new jobs have been created, with the economy averaging about 3.5 percent real growth each year. In the 1980s, as the economy supplied more goods to absorb the Fed's money supply, inflation plunged from the stagflationary 1970s. Meanwhile, entire new technology industries sprung up, forming an information economy that has transformed business and productivity

Second, no matter how much our loonbat left tries to understand the islamo-fascists they still want and do everything they can to kill as many of us as possible. Their demands are clear submit or die, their appeasement is our death and the looting of America. How far down a hole do these moonbats have to shove their heads to escape what the jihadis proclaim is their goal every single day? The primary election of Ned Lamont over Joe Lieberman, a good and decent liberal voice was a victory for the moonbats left and a loss for America and a once pround and strong party. Yes, it was good for the GOP, but we need two strong parties that undersstand the need for national security and the programs needed to assure that security, ie. the NSA and financial tracking which recently helped thwart a major plot. The OPJ covers it quite well.

Americans went to work yesterday to news of another astonishing terror plot against U.S. airlines, only this time the response was grateful relief. British authorities had busted the "very sophisticated" plan "to commit mass murder" and arrested 20-plus British-Pakistani suspects. As we approach the fifth anniversary of 9/11 without another major attack on U.S. soil, now is the right moment to consider the policies that have protected us--and those in public life who have fought those policies nearly every step of the way.

It's not as if the "Islamic fascists"--to borrow President Bush's description yesterday--haven't been trying to hit us. They took more than 50 lives last year in London with the "7/7" subway bombings. There was the catastrophic attack in Madrid the year before that left nearly 200 dead. But there have also been successes. Some have been publicized, such as a foiled plot to poison Britain's food supply with ricin. But undoubtedly many have not, because authorities don't want to compromise sources and methods, or because the would-be terrorists have been captured or killed before they could carry out their plans.

Third, the border and immigration, the American public is all about security first, then we can talk about a conservative worker program once our borders are closed to illegal immigration and social welfare incentives to come here are cut off. This shows in the strong support Con.Tom Tancredo, the 'Tank' in the House on the issue, has in straw polls at Human Events for GOP POTUS nominees.

Fourth, from this country boy's recent blog debates with a few from the loony moonbat left, not quite the DNC yet. America is not ready for and hopefully forever, eurostyle socialism, hippy politics alla Amsterdam. I don't want the government to take care of me with free medical care I want it to protect me from those crazy folks that want to destroy our Republic. I don't want to pay for able bodied citizens on welfare and "disability", I know one that can't work because she can't handle the stress so they live off our tax dollar, the hubby gets unemployment and works unliscensed under the table, both Democrats. He is gone and I still pay for the SOB, bitter is the toughest taste to lose and losing is the bitterest taste of all. This is the root of BDS, Bush Derangement Syndrome , the majority don't have it , thought many are unhappy over spending and other issues, they are not lefty issues. National security is not a partisan issue and the jihadists wish to remind us of that every single day! I believe in classic liberalism, not modern day "progressive socialisism" masquerading as such. It appears many folks need to get a handle on history!?!
What Say You?
