Taking Out Phishing Scammers And Other Spammers

I have effectively reduced my spam email to just a couple a day and those usually come from phishers or viagra pushers so how did I stop them. It really is pretty simple but never ever open the mail or click on any link they provide. First you must have access to the full email header which contains the IP address of the sender and the ISP of the sender if you don't know how to do that you can go here to find out how to get it.
Once you have the full header you can get the IP address and that is the first one in the 'received from' line near the top, it will look something like this, 123.45.67.8. You then plug that number into the Arin Who Is database and you will find out who the Internet Service Provider is, they provide a hotlink to the other Who Is databases if it is not US based and then just replug that number.
Then you forward the spam email to the spammer's ISP and spam@uce.gov, most use abuse at the email provider, abuse@ ,like abuse@google.com, copy and paste the full header into the body of the email with a brief explanation of the problem, make no changes other than that. Here is an example of my latest reporting a phishing scammer,

Please stop the phishing scammers

If you have questions I will try to help or you can contact your own support team at your email provider.

Gas Could Hit $10 A Gallon And The Democrats Still Object To Drilling

Unbelievable the Democrats don't care at all about the people if they object to drilling for oil now even if gas prices hit $10 a gallon at the pump, what abject stupidity.

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnel tries to find a trigger point when drilling would begin and Democrat Ken Salazar continues to object and his state sits on a motherlode of oil that would benefit his constituents. As Allahpundit points out the campaign ads will write themselves if the Democrats continue their kowtowing to the radical environmentalists. Heck even in my nutty state of California a slim majority want to get that oil off our coast. Just remember everytime you pump all that hard earned cash into your gas tank that the Democrats are to blame lock stock and barrel.
In the House the Democrats voted to go on their summer vacation instead of voting on an energy bill while many Americans are cancelling their vacations because of the high price of gas. No wonder the Democrat controlled Congress has a 9% approval rating, the lowest in history but they had time to vote to apologize for slavery that ended over 150 years ago. So something that happened in our long gone past is more important to the Democrats than something that is hurting millions of Americans and small businesses today the cost of energy.

The McCain Ad That Has The Obamabots In A Fluster

You know an ad works when it gets free airtime on the alphabet networks and gets youe opponent's supporters into an outraged tizzy. Moonbat bloggers are calling it racist because it compared Obama's celebrity to Brittany Spears' and Paris Hilton's and another says it is a subliminal call for assassination. The only people playing the racecard are lefties and Barack Obama himself saying that the GOP is trying to make people afraid of him because he has a funny name and doesn't look like all those other Presidents. Wrong the GOP is trying to make people realize his policies would be bad for America and they should be rightly afraid of what he would do if elected without having a darned thing to do with his race. You see any criticism of Obama is racist, if you don't swoon in his presence you are a racist and if America doesn't elect him its because we are a racist country. Decent Ameericans will get very sick of that narrative very quickly and it is starting to show in the polls.

Would Obama Push For Slavery Reparations?

America has owned up to its past and fought a very bloody war to end slavery within its borders so reparations talk raises many questions. Obama had this to say to a conference for minority journalists and along with a recent vote in Congress on apologizing for slavery raises my hackles just a bit.

I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native
Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."

Is he saying the American taxpayer, all of whom had nothing to do with those practices, should hand over their money to nonvictims of our past?
Who would get those payments and what percentage of your blood/DNA would be required to qualify?
Would those African-Americans that migrated here long after slavery was abolished also get payments?
How would they prove they are the descendants of slaves?
Why should I a descendant of folks that never owned slaves be forced to pay for the transgressions of about 5% of the population of our long gone past?
Where is the outrage against the Arab muslim nations that ran the slave trade in Africa, abducted far more than us, treated them far worse and still practice it today?
Why do Democrats continue this blatant attemp to keep the black population enslaved to the government through idiotic policies such as this and welfare?
When will blacks wake up and realize no one is holding them back but Democrats and their complicity with teachers unions?
I could go on and on but the point is that America has owned up to its past inequities and does not try to cover it up as Obama implies. I owe the black community nothing other than the opportunity to apply for a job they are qualified for and would have zero problem hiring them if they are. Barack Obama has applied for the job of POTUS and I find his qualifications glaringly deficient and it has zero to do with the color of his skin.
Further reading on Obama's obsession with race can be found at of all places the NYT.

Obama, I Am The One The World Is Waiting For

It seems Barack has spent way to much time in front of swooning crowds and talking to sycophantic press corps so much so that he has come to believe his own hype. Even some in the leftwing media are starting to pick up on the overly egotistical arrogance of the guy, WaPo's The Trail blog reported these amazing words to the Democrat caucus.

"this is the moment, as Nancy [Pelosi] noted, that the world is waiting for."
"It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign -- that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all. It's about America. I have just become a symbol. I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions"

So Obama has become the vessel for all the world's hopes and dreams, the chosen one to lead us all to the promised land of unity as citizens of the world with Obama as our King in his own mind and his most rabid supporters. Heck he is having trouble uniting his own dang party and is trying to strongarm Clinton supporters into line but they aren't taking it very well.
Meanwhile Hugh Hewitt has been playing a quote of Obama saying that if we just keep our tires inflated properly and our cars tuned up there is no need to drill for oil in this country.
There's things that you can do individually though to saveenergy. Making sure your tires are properly inflated. Simple thing. But we could save all the oil they are talking about getting off drilling if everybody was just inflating their tires. And getting regulartune-ups. You could actually save just as much.
What kind of idiocy is that?
Obama is rapidly becoming his own worst enemy when he is not in front of a teleprompter delivering empty flowery speeches about hope, change and we are the ones we have been waiting for. I admit that the first few speeches I heard that I was impressed and figured him to be a decent guy but now I see him as an egotistical asshat, far left radical Chicago politician with ties to far too many noxious individuals and policies.

DDD Nancy Pelosi Trying To Save The Planet

The don't drill Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi is refusing to allow any votes in the House on any drilling for oil to help relieve prices at the pump because she is "trying to save the planet". She also tries in vain to blame the GOP for it failed policies but oil prices did not start to skyrocket till after the Democrats took over both houses of Congress in '06 just as deficit spending also exploded under their control.

With fewer than 20 legislative days before the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1, the entire appropriations process has largely ground to a halt because of the ham-handed fighting that followed Republican attempts to lift the moratorium on offshore oil and gas exploration. And after promising fairness and open debate, Pelosi has resorted to hard-nosed parliamentary devices that effectively bar any chance for Republicans to offer policy alternatives.

“I’m trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet,” she says impatiently when questioned. “I will not have this debate trivialized by their excuse for their failed policy.”

Nancy now has a serious problem on her hands because she represents probably the most liberal district in America in San Francisco and home to several major environmental groups that fund her but 70% of America wants to drill and her caucus will have to face angry constituents. On the Senate side the GOP is holding to its promise to shut down the upper house till a full debate and vote on drilling can take place causing Dem Leader Harry Reid to partially cave in by offering a compromise causing outrage from the liberal Democrats in both houses since they know they will lose if it comes up for a vote.
If the Democrats continue to obstruct a vote on oil production they are handing the GOP a major campaign issue just as the race to November starts heating up. The GOP is offering a do it all approach to energy production and the Democrats are offering a do nothing approach besides raising taxes and sueing OPEC, their answer to everything, taxes or lawsuits.

Obama Bounces Like A Flat Basketball

While I don't put much stock in polls this early in a national campaign Obama should be doing far better than he is in a year that the generic democrat hammers the generic republican. He got a small bounce after Hillary conceded but that disappeared quickly even losing ground and he got an an apparent one during his recent world tour and that is also gone. McCain is even leading in the latest USAToday/Gallup poll and is closing the gap or inching ahead in battleground states.
If I had to guess as to why I would bet that Obama's arrogance is rubbing people the wrong way and the swooning press only makes things worse. McCain is traveling America giving townhall meetings to intimate groups and answering their questions while Obama delivers flowery empty speeches to swooning masses and dodges tough questions with hems, haws and outright lies about previous positions.
Obama is even having very serious problems uniting the Democrats as evidenced by the rapidly growing PUMA movement so how is he going to unify the country much less the world? I am almost willing to bet that Obamania, Obamedia and his rabid fans will turn off far more voters than they inspire by the time November rolls around.

Barack Obama The Deconstructionist's Candidate

For nearly forty years since the social upheaval of the late '60s and early '70s liberal academia has been attempting to deconstruct and rewrite what is great about America. Kyle-Anne Shiver has written a must read brilliant essay for the American Thinker that deconstructs the modern Democrat Party and its selected nominee Barack Obama. When you really look at it neither of their two finalists Hillary or Barack are truly qualified to be President though I would give a slight edge to Hillary thanks to her husband.

The academics' pet theory of the past 30 years has touched numerous facets of our society. These thorny deconstructionists have managed to convince many an American college student to sacrifice his God-given common sense and Judeo/Christian values on the altar of presumed white male privilege, from which these students are admonished they now must actively disengage. After all, say the deconstructionists and their postmodernist, post-colonialist allies, every single good in Western civilization has been irrevocably tainted by the despicable, ill-gotten-gain methods of those nasty, imperialist, white, male, chauvinist-pig founders, warriors, inventors, builders, landowners, writers, jurists et al. How dare we, as modern day white Westerners, reap the ill-gotten benefits of such a despicable, greedy, imperialistic lot.

And on the Democrat Party she writes.
The Democratic National Convention of 1968 was a quite raucous and bloody affair, with mobs of young leftist agitators rioting in the streets of Chicago, demanding their way. These home-grown Marxist revolutionaries, many of whom went on to become domestic terrorists and bombers and universal nihilists of all variety, didn't get their way that year. But they did make enough of a dent in the bastions of Democratic Party authority to rewrite the nominating rules around what they considered more egalitarian principles. What resulted from the radical changes to the nominating process is the convoluted mess that formed the basis for this year's slugfest between two affirmative-action candidates.

And I really liked this part on Obama.
So far, Obama's only plans worth noting are to disarm America and turn over vast amounts of our wealth to refortify failing dictatorships in third-world countries. If accomplished, this will amount to nothing less than handing over our sovereignty and liberty in favor of bondage to international consensus.
I must accept that Obama's death plan for America, the Land that I love, is actually better than McCain's life plan to preserve and protect our liberty.
I might as well go a bit further with the deconstructionists and throw in another purely Western assumption. Liberty over bondage. Yes, it's true. Color me prejudiced to the core of my being.
I actually will prefer to my dying day, with the last breath I draw, as God is my witness, liberty over bondage.

Indeed she is absolutely correct the Democrats are no longer democratic, they believe in bondage to the government in the form of taxation and regulation. They hate capitalism, profit and success so they seek to tax and regulate it then make it submissive to government through subsidies. They want to give special privileges to people simply because of how they look or act not on their merits. They want to control people not represent them which is the antithesis to democracy in a federalist republic. The are no longer interested in the power of the people but in power over the people and it is time we the people took that power back.

Al Gore, Egregiously Pushy Asshole

Those are not my words but Penn and Teller's in their latest edition of Bullsh!t. The video is here courtesy of Newsbusters, you might have to install some new video software and reboot but it is worth it to so see them blast on Al Gore and his econinnies. If you get the home page after the download put Penn and Teller into the search box and then click on "Being Green". This goes hand in hand with the video I posted last night about the green movement using scare tactics to trick you out of your money and freedom. I am personally very eco-conscious because I choose to be not because the government mandates it and I oppose the social engineering behind the global warming movement and the pseudo-science they use for their alarmist propaganda.

EgObama Crown Prince Of The World

All politicians by nature have massive egos and a sense that they are specially gifted to lead but Obama certainly takes the cake. John Kerry was ridiculed for being an effete elitist snob but Obama makes him look like a down to earth everyday guy by comparison. Denver's Pepsi Center is not big enough for his ego so he has to have Mile High Stadium instead. The world is broken and he is the only one that can fix it and as his wife so gracefully put "heal our souls". Obama in his victory speech after the final primary vote exclaimed:

"I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when...the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."

There are two must read essays at the American Thinker, one by Jeff Dobbs and the other by James Lewis that go into this much deeper and better than I can. Jeff compares Onama to the rooster of fable, Chanticleer, that believed his crowing made the sun rise and James examines how Obama's feeling of abandonment by his parents powers his need to surroung himself with sycophants and adoring swooning masses.
The tactics Obama and his wife use are straight from Marxism 101 as used and taught by one of his mentors in his community organizing days in Chicago, Saul Alinsky and his Pastor Jeremiah Wright. People must be made to feel so disillusioned about themselves and their future that they will seek radical change and a saviour. Obama sees himself as that person and that is dangerous as it gave us people like Napolean, Lenin, Mao, Hitler and the list goes on. Alinsky wrote in his "Rules For Radicals":
"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families - more than seventy million people - whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don't encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let's not let it happen by default.."

That is why Obama has attempted to move to the center recently and tried to distance himself from the radical leftist groups he had courted when running for office in Chicago and downplayed those relationships since. He is trying to pull the wool over our eyes and we must not let him.

Exposing The Environmentalists For What They Are

Most of them are just joiners or followers because caring about nature feels good but they really don't know what they are talking about. Their leaders however do have an agenda and it has nothing or little to do with the environment but lots to do with anti-corporatism, anti-globalization, anti-capitalism and pro-socialism. Longtime denizens of the Barnyard will remember the Penn and Teller video I have posted a couple times of the climate alarmists signing a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) better known as water. I found out today it was part of a larger expose` on the complete emptiness and sheer stupidity of many of those sheeple. They argue from emotion and not fact and Penn and Teller expose them completely in this video series Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters dug up. The fact is that the planet is much cleaner than it was when I was a child, our forests have rebounded greatly since the early 20th century and global warming is a giant hoax designed to scare people out of their money and freedom.

As an avid outdoorsman and nature lover I am all for a cleaner planet but I am not for socialism or social engineering under the guise of environmentalism and is why I quit the Sierra Club. Al Gore and his phony alarmism has been dicredited so many times now it has become laughable and it is telling that the only folks that buy into his nonsense like to live in trees, dance in drum circles and march in protest rallies dressed in silly costumes. I have to wonder if they know that the countries with the worst environmental degradation are all socialist.

Bringing Light To The World

This has to be the best write up I have seen on His Hopeness's trip abroad. What a brilliant satirical slam on the Obamassiah and his disciples in the US press corps. Gerard Baker is at his best in the Times of London, do read the whole thing and here is a snip to whet your appetite.

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

Obama is running around the world acting like he believes all his own hype and he is already POTUS or destined to be, heck he has not even gotten the official nomination yet from the DNC or been elected. Obama has indeed replaced gravitas with presumptuous arrogance and Baker nails it.

Related Sidenote: The Campaign Spot has a short round up of some of Obama's gaffes misstatements and refuses to answer from the week.
Gateway Pundit has more on how the Israelis viewed him and the kerfuffle over his failure to visit the wounded soldiers at Landstuhl, he couldn't bring the press with him.

GOP Rep Heather Wilson Rips Dem Rep Robert Wexler And Chris Mathews A New One

Heather Wilson really struts her stuff on Hardball and completely shuts down Chrissy and the liberal Florida loudmouth that doesn't even live in his district let alone state. The video is here but requires real player and Newsbusters has the transcript.
Heather is facing a tough uphill battle to win the open Senate seat in New Mexico for the GOP so if you can send her a few bucks. She is a scrappy campaigner and from the sound of that video would be a great addition to our side in the Senate.

Was Obama's Big Speech In Berlin Even Legal

Lots of ethics questions can be raised about his big shindig today including the free performance of the German bands and other expenditures involved by foreigners to pull it off. According to Campaign Finance Law it may very well be illegal.

Title III: Miscellaneous…….(Sec. 303) Amends FECA to revise the ban on campaign contributions from foreign nationals to include donations, expenditures, independent expenditures, disbursements for an electioneering communication, as well as contributions or donations to any political party committee.

Did the campaign pay for all this, the bands, the security, the venue or even the cleanup? If the bands performed for free then it is an inkind contribution the same if Berlin provided security. This combined with Pamela Gellar's investigation into Obama's fundraising brings up a lot of tough ethical questions to be asked by the FEC, no wonder the Democrats are blocking President Bush's ability to fill out the FEC board.

Yes! GOP Grows A Spine

At last they are getting it, Americans want to drill for our oil now. The Senate GOP has thrown down the gauntlet to the Democrat leadership, bring domestic drilling up for a vote or we will block everything else. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are running scared and doing everything they can to avoid a vote on this knowing they will lose yet again.

Senate Republicans have threatened to block nearly all other bills pending before the August recess if Democrats refuse to vote with them on expanding offshore drilling.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said bills that do not pertain to energy can wait until after the August recess, with gas prices now surpassing $4 per gallon. McConnell and top Republicans indicated Wednesday they would oppose any procedural votes to take up other legislation, which require 60 votes to succeed.

If Reid and Pelosi allow this to be voted on they will lose and with it much of their money and support from the green lobby that wants high gas prices as a means to social engineering. The American people don't like being dictated to and energy costs are hitting them where it hurts the most, their money clip. The GOP can take this and use it as a huge wedge issue in this election cycle and win on it.

Beers, Brats, Bands And Obama: Updated

Citizen of the World Obama made his big speech in Berlin today and as usual said nothing very well since he had his teleprompter. He said "This is the moment" 16 times, wow, what a speaker. What the MSM will fail to tell you is that rockstar Obama had two popular German bands warm the crowd up for him with ample concession stands serving beer and brats. Heck I would have gone to a free concert even if Obama was going to speak not because he was going to.
He did manage to get in some sightseeing while there but cancelled a scheduled trip to visit our troops stationed there including the wounded vets at Landstuhl. I guess he knows the troops don't like him very much but his excuse was that it wouldn't be appropriate.

1:42 p.m.: SPIEGEL ONLINE has learned that Obama has cancelled a planned short visit to the Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases in the southwest German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The visits were planned for Friday. “Barack Obama will not be coming to us,” a spokesperson for the US military hospital in Landstuhl announced. “I don’t know why.” Shortly before the same spokeswoman had announced a planned visit by Obama.

Plus his visits to Iraq and Afghanistan appear to have been tightly scripted and controlled with no actual contact with the troops. Blackfive has emails from soldiers that say he basically snubbed them.
Hello everyone,

As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ' The War Zone ' . I wanted to share with you what happened.

He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand, he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the Americans back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

Confederate Yankee has text of another one that must be from Kuwait where Obama made his famous basketball shot from "way outside the paint" detailing how tightly controlled his fact finding mission was. It is rather long but a must read, here is a snip.
Now, there are close to 8000 troops on the base and its nearby satellites. No one came up from the Army side (except perhaps a few ranking officers). The airbase resumed operation, once he cleared the flightline, as if nothing had happened. The dining hall holds about 300 people and was not full. The troops did not want to meet him and the feeling was apparently mutual. In attendance, besides the Official Entourage, were the base's senior officers, some support personnel, and a very few carefully vetted supporters who'd made special arrangements. No photos were allowed. No question and answer with the troops. No real acknowledgment that the troops existed.

The same email says 95% of the base wanted nothing to do with him and think he is a buffoon. So our would be Commander in Chief flies around the world smoozes with palistinian terrorist Abbas and anti-American Germans while snubbing our troops. At least the Israeli people are smart, they met him with protests and jeers.
Update: From the comments at this Hotair post, one commenter asked if the Berlin Speech was an illegal campaign contribution and another pulled up this bit from the Campaign Finance Reform Act.
Title III: Miscellaneous…….(Sec. 303) Amends FECA to revise the ban on campaign contributions from foreign nationals to include donations, expenditures, independent expenditures, disbursements for an electioneering communication, as well as contributions or donations to any political party committee.

Moonbat Protestors Storing Urine To Throw At Police During Denver Convention Protests

Recreate 68 and their various allies like the Code Pinkos are planning massive protests at the Democrat's convention next month with some very sick armament. They mean to recreate the havoc in Chicago during the 1968 Democrat convention to protest the war and promote anarchy. This is a disturbing and very sick report from KJCT8 in Denver.

A new kind of warning has come up about protesters gearing up for the Democratic National Convention.
Denver firefighters have learned of a house full of urine being stored to throw at police. An internal memo is warning first responders that disgusting acts are a significant concern.
Protesters in other cities have used urine and feces filled balloons to throw at police and there are concerns that could happen during the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

How ironic is it that the peace and love hippies are planning such vile acts as this?
Of course the organizers are whining that the press is trying to make people afraid of them while Denver is scrambling to take care of the city amid the threat.

More Anomalies In Obama's Fundraising

This is more interesting and troubling than the hype about Obama's birth certificate in my book. More and more really troubling things are coming up and the defanged FEC seems unable to investigate. Pamela Gellar continues to dig through the hundreds of pages and finds many things to raise the eyebrow more than a little. Are bundlers laundering foreign money? Do the sales of teeshirts to foreigners count as illegal donations? Lots of questions and very few answers that I guarantee the MSM will not explore. It seems to be far to easy to cover up illegal fundraising with the use of internet donations and paraphernalia sales online and Obama is raking it in.

John and I, in continuing to pour over these documents in the old fashion way, tedious line by tedious line, have found dozens, literally dozens of instances in which people have clearly made contributions over the applicable $2300 per individual limit, without consequence or direction to the Obama campaign to disgorge such illegally gotten funds. The documentation is on adjacent lines right before the F.E.C. staff ......
The F.E.C. has simply been trampled by the Obama campaign.
This first and primary issue concerns “bundling,” the aggregation of small individual contributions, submitted for verification for legality by the Obama campaign to the F.E.C. John and I touched on this issue in my previous post, “Obama's Foreign Contributions: Who is Jeanne McCurdy,” in which the bundling tactics of an Obama fund raiser named Jeanne McCurdy was disclosed.
We documented almost $800 worth of campaign contributions which simply cannot be documented by anybody as to where they came from, or from whom, or whether the persons were American citizens or perhaps from person with interests violently opposed to American interests.

Maybe if bloggers start making a big enough stink about this someone in the MSM will pick up on it and dig in a little deeper. They are not all in the tank for Obama so we can hope a little bit.

Oil Prices Continue To Drop

They have fallen about $24 a barrel from a high two weeks ago of $148. There are several factors for this besides the push here in the US for more drilling for our domestic sources. Brazil recently announced the discovery of a couple huge oil fields off their coast and they aren't shy about exploiting them. Plus now that Iraq is becoming stabilized they have opened some of their huge fields for bidding and their output has been steadily increasing to above prewar levels. All of this combined has promise of more oil coming into the future market prompting speculators to sell off their futures holdings while they could. The incredibly rapid rise in prices had all the hallmarks of a speculative bubble and like all bubbles when they get too big they burst. It is still too early to tell if the bubble has burst but my fingers are crossed that it has but regardless we still need to drill here to prevent this same thing from happening again.
The other and most important reason in my book is that tapping into our own sources of oil keeps hundreds of billions of dollars in the US economy and creates many thousands of good high paying jobs. This point needs to be made over and over again as it is one that will resonate with the people. The same point could be made for coal since we have one of the most massive reserves in the world. We need access to energy to power our economy and we need to explore all means of acquiring that energy, oil, coal, natural gas, nonfood based biofuels, nuclear, wind, solar, geothermal, and tidal.
We also need to remember that oil is used in far more things than the fuel we put into our cars or heat our homes with, its byproducts are also used in plastics, cosmetics, asphalt, polyester, satin, nylon and many many more things that we use daily. We need oil and that need will not change for many years yet to come.

What An Arrogant Egomaniac Asshat

Katie Couric of all people actually backs Obama into a corner on the success of the surge while Obama twists and spins and claims it was his calls for troop withdrawals that forced the Iraqis into political reconciliation.

Katie actually went to Iraq last year to report on the surge for CBS and gave an honest report so she has more experience there than Obama does. Jim at Gateway pundit has much more on this. Obama comes across as an arrogant idiot in the interview and McCain like an elder statesman that has a grasp of the facts. Barack is basically saying that he wishes the surge hadn't worked so well and that we weren't winning so his position of retreat in defeat wouldn't look so bad. I think this trip may do more harm than good for Obama's campaign as he is forced into areas he is clearly not comfortable.

Update: A welcome to Larry Sinclairites while I don't completely buy into his accusations I do think Obama is high on something, maybe coke maybe his deoderant. Anaother welcome to RCPers.

News From Afghanistan

Via MilBlog TV and Greyhawk of the Mudville Gazette of course.

Some interesting snippets in there. The Stars and Stripes story referenced at the beginning about a recent major firefight can be found here. A story of incredible bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, yeah we lost nine guys but a tiny outpost repelled a massed Taliban force and gave a lot more damage than they received.

Dr. Roy Spencer Testifies Before Congress Debunking Global Warming Myth

Dr. Spencer is one of the leading climatologists fighting the good fight against the hype of anthropogenic global warming and his remarks are worth reading. I imagine his actual scientific testimony will go right over the heads of those feeling liberals like Barbara Boxer in the Senate committee hearing. The pdf document is here complete with graphs and other scientific data showing that the greenhouse gas scare is all a way over hyped myth being pushed by politicians with an agenda that has nothing to do with the environment. Here is a snippet to get you interested.

If true, an insensitive climate system would mean that we have little to worry about in the way of manmade global warming and associated climate change. And, as we will see, it would also mean that the warming we have experienced in the last 100 years is mostly natural. Of course, if climate change is mostly natural then it is largely out of our control, and is likely to end—if it has not ended already, since satellite-measured global temperatures have not warmed for at least seven years now.

There is much more at Icecap blasting other myths being spread by the MSM including this great piece on water usage, agriculture and CO2. Now as a conservationist that loves the environment and hates pollution I know enough to know that CO2 is a vital gas in our atmosphere and that it is not a pollutant.
Clearly, all of these approaches to getting "more crop per drop" out of our agricultural enterprises should be pursued. But what if we had a magical substance we could release to the air that would automatically lead to greater crop yields? And what if it produced those greater crop yields while using less water? And what if the many processes that put this super substance into the air were incredibly useful in their own right ... or even essential, both to our individual well-being and to the security of numerous nations?

Why, everyone would be clamoring for its release to the air, right? Wrong! Al Gore, for one, is adamantly against it. So is James Hansen, as are a host of climate alarmists, all of whom feel that the water-use-efficiency-enhancing carbon dioxide that is released to the air by the burning of coal, gas and oil -- which is no different from what every one of us emits to the atmosphere with every breath we exhale -- should not only not be allowed to continue to rise, but should be stopped in its tracks, all because tenuous speculations spawned by woefully inadequate computer-run climate models suggest that releasing more CO2 into the air will lead to catastrophic global warming.

I have said it before and will say it again, some warming and higher CO2 levels will be far more beneficial than catastrophic and you would think the environuts would get it. They don't because their agenda has nothing to do with the environment, it is about social engineering and population control.

BLM Issues Proposed Regulations For Oil Shale Development: Updated

This is a promising starting step to getting at the estimated 800 billion barrels of oil contained in the shale formations. The Bureau of Land Management also says they have issued leases for five research, development and demonstration sites in Colorado and Utah. I say faster please!

The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management today published proposed regulations to establish a commercial oil shale program that could result in the addition of up to 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil from lands in the western United States.

In keeping with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920, the BLM is proposing regulations that would provide the critical “rules of the road” on which private investors will rely in determining whether to make future financial commitments to prospective oil shale projects.

“As Americans pay more than $4 for a gallon of gasoline and watch energy prices continue to climb higher and higher, we need to be doing more to develop our own energy here at home, through resources such as oil shale,” said Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne. “Instead, I find it ironic that we are asking countries halfway around the world to produce more for us.”

Oil shale is a fine-grained sedimentary rock containing organic matter from which oil may be produced. The regulations would provide for a thoughtful, phased approach to oil shale development on public lands in the West. Commercial development of oil shale will not begin until it is technologically viable, which is not expected for several years.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is only publishing proposed regulations at this time because the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2008 prohibits the agency from using FY2008 funds to prepare or publish final regulations. The President has called on Congress to remove the ban on finalizing oil shale program regulations.

(HT: Instapundit)
Of course it is the Democrats in Congress that are blocking this and yet another reason to vote them out of office. I don't care if it will take several years to develope the technology that is a huge amount of oil and the sooner we start working on it the better for America.
Here is McCain's latest related ad.

Update: Sen. James Inhofe blasted the Democrats in a speech on energy today and he is right, and it is a must read if you care about this.
“I believe that America is not running out of oil and gas or running out of places to look for oil and gas. America is running out of places where the Democrats in Congress are allowing us to look for oil and gas. Again I ask, why should producing America's own resources be a partisan issue? It shouldn't be, but it is. The Democrats in Congress refuse to increase our supply of energy... and gas prices keep rising… I call on the Democrats to act to expand refinery capacity and to open the nation's access to the Outer Continental Shelf, ANWR, and the Rocky Mountain oil shale, and preserve access to Canadian oil sands. Today's American oil producer operates with the most sophisticated environmental technologies and policies on the planet. 67 percent of the American people recognize the need for development and support action. It’s time to end the Democratic Party’s obstruction. The American public must demand that the Democrats in Congress allow us to produce our own resources.”

America Knows The MSM Is Biased Towards Obama

America's voters are not stupid by any means and they recognize blatant bias when they see it as the latest Rasmussen poll highlights very well. The majority of Americans believe the MSM is trying to ram Obama down our throats. Gee do ya think all the fawning coverage of the Lightworker and ignorance of his multitudinous gaffes have anything to do with that perception? Not to mention the alphabet network's main talking heads falling all over themselves to join the Obamassiah on his historic world tour to heal our image around the world with his mere presence.

The idea that reporters are trying to help Obama win in November has grown by five percentage points over the past month. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey, taken just before the new controversy involving the Times erupted, found that 49% of voters believe most reporters will try to help the Democrat with their coverage, up from 44% a month ago.
Just 14% believe most reporters will try to help McCain win, little changed from 13% a month ago. Just one voter in four (24%) believes that most reporters will try to offer unbiased coverage.
A Rasmussen Reports survey earlier this year found that just 24% of American voters have a favorable opinion of the New York Times. The paper’s ratings divided sharply along partisan and ideological lines, with liberals far more supportive of the paper than conservatives.

The Democrats are already deeply split over Obama's candidacy and as more Americans start paying attention to the race Obama will fade and badly since he is a badly flawed candidate despite his ability to speak from a teleprompter.
Americans are far from stupid and with the edvances of the new media able to pick and choose what news they take in. Yeah Kos may be the most popular blog on the web but conservative icon Michelle Malkin is number two and individual liberal blogs donot do as well as individual conservative blogs. The moonbats tend to aggregate in a massive collective cesspool of profanity and conservatives tend to diversify in a wide but loose network of individual opinion and conversation. I know of the moonbat trolls with blogs that have plagued the Barnyard in the past, one doesn't even show up on a technorati search and the others barely do while my conservative friends all do. We may be small individually but we add up and we do have an impact. I mean who has time to go read through a thousand comments at a Kos post when we can visit a handful of conservative blogs and get a news roundup for the day.

GOP House Members Tour ANWR

GOP House Minority leader John Boehner and nine other congressmen took a junket to Alaske to actually check out ANWR and the oil production facilities on the North Slope. This was a smart move as they can better debate the issue of drilling there with firsthand experience and pictures about where the oil companies want to drill. Michelle Bachman has a write up and a few pictures posted at Townhall. She makes a good point about the caribou that the environuts are so desparate to protect.

Although many have been skeptical about the relationship between oil production and the surrounding wildlife and environment, we were given evidence that the two can co-exist. The best piece of evidence was the documented increase in size of a herd of native caribou near the Prudhoe Bay facilities. Since the facilities began its operations in the 1970s, the heard has increased its size from 5,000 to around 30,000 today.

Sounds to me like the caribou don't really mind us drilling there at all.
This brings me to a point about John McCain's stance on drilling in ANWR, one of my sticking points with him. He has criticized Obama for forming policy positions on Iraq and Afghanistan without having visited there well he has set a policy position on drilling in ANWR without having visited there. I guarantee many millions of American voters care more about seeing a larger chunk of their budget going into their gas tank than a few mosquitos and caribou. Many millions of us can't just go buy a small car and drive less or take public transportation as is the Democrat's position. I need my truck to do my job as a self employed contractor and its paid for to boot, plus I don't like driving a beer can car. Another thing about these over hyped hybrids is their exorbitant costs that will not be covered in fuel savings in their relatively short lifespans.

Obama Making Waves In The Future

Obama expects to be president for next eight to ten years as he tells it in and interview with CBS's Lara Logan.

"the objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people like President Karzai or Prime Minister Maliki or President Sarkozy or others who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years.

"And it's important for me to have a relationship with them early, that I start listening to them now, getting a sense of what their interests and concerns are."

Now this quote is quite astounding for its arrogance and presumptiousness in that he assumes he will be elected and that the other leaders will still be in power. What Obama says on his trip abroad will have wide ramifications if he continues to make the kind of gaffes he has continued to make. Jake Tapper has compared it to the butterfly effect of chaos theory.
The butterfly effect was introduced in Ray Bradbury's 1952 short story "A Sound of Thunder," when time travelers change the world beyond measure by accidentally killing a butterfly in prehistoric times.

Similarly, international diplomacy can be impacted by careless or glibly-chosen words. (Cue President Bush's "crusade" remarks.)

Some Democratic allies of Obama's are -- off the record -- concerned that the senator too often doesn't consider the potential butterfly effect of his diction.

Take his support for an "undivided Jerusalem," or his remarks about women seeking abortions when they're "feeling blue," which upset feminist leaders.

This is also on display as he has chosen to speak at the "Victory" monument in Germany which is a symbol of Prussian aggression and victory over its neighbors and where Hitler held massive rallies. Cap'n Ed has more on this and had this to say.
Hitler didn’t just move the monument to its more central location. He had a taller column built for it as well, to emphasize its message of German military domination over Europe. He saw it as a message to Germans of their destiny — as well as to other Europeans as their destiny as well. It was never meant as a symbol of peaceful, multicultural co-existence.
Team Obama has outdone themselves on symbolism with this choice. They’ve managed to make their hosts uncomfortable for a second time with their choice of rallying point, and perhaps more so this time. If one wanted to talk peace, what worse location could one choose than Adolf Hitler’s favorite monument to militaristic domination? One has to wonder how France, Denmark, and Austria will feel about Obama rallying German masses under the Siegessäule. Deja vu?

Obama shows himself once again to be a naive arrogant fool and further demonstrates why he is not qualified to be POTUS. I can empathize with Hillary's supporters in that even though I disagree with her policies she would never be that stupid or show that level of supreme arrogance.

Iraqis Look To Politics And A Bright Future

Thanks to the US troop surge and change in tactics put in place by Generals Petraeus and Odierno Iraq is undergoing a truly inspiring transformation. Politics is now all the rage in Iraq and political parties, over 500 of them, vie for votes and power with ballots and not bombs and bullets in the runup to cominy provencial elections. The Sunni block has returned to the government in Baghdad now that PM Maliki has shown he will crack down on the Shia militias. Markets are opening and the infrastructure is being rebuilt. Kim Kagan has a must read piece in the Weekly Standard about all the political prodress that has been made and reports on a meeting she had with one of those many parties at their headquarters.

Our host gives us a brief tour of the headquarters. It is strikingly familiar, reminiscent of hundreds of town and county election headquarters in the United States. A widescreen television in the large conference room displays news continuously. A freshly photocopied stack of flyers sits in an anteroom, explaining the party's position on the strategic agreement between Iraq and the United States that is the subject of intense debate throughout the country. Party officials responsible for different districts of Baghdad plan to distribute the flyers door to door over the weekend, assisted by staff and volunteers. They are preparing another round of flyers for next week. Nearby, young men and women sit at a bank of computers writing and designing the party's newspaper and laying out the advertisements that pay for its production. The color photographs in today's edition highlight a recent event sponsored by the party's youth committee: an awards ceremony for school children who have gotten top grades this academic year.

Iraqis see a bright future for themselves and we need to do everything we can to help them along not abandon them to the thugs of AQ or the hegemony of Iran.

Democrats Want To Raise Gas Taxes

Gas taxes are supposed to go to highway funds but with Americans driving less thus using less fuel because of high fuel prices those funds have dropped so the Democrat's want to raise the tax. The Democrats want to increase the cost of gasoline while it is at record highs so they can pay for their pet projects that have nothing to do with highway infrastructure with pork barrel spending but won't allow more drilling to lower the cost of that fuel. The transportation bills are a favorite of the porkers in Congress for dropping in billions of earmarks for museums , bridges to nowhere and bike paths and then they wonder why those funds are running short now so their solution is to sock it to the taxpayer once again with ever more taxation. Yes folks this is what you can expect with Obama and the Democrats running the government, they just don't get basic economics and their solution to everything is to tax you more. Why can't they set up private funds to raise voluntary money for their pet projects instead of raping the taxpayers even more? Hell we worked for six and a half months just to pay our taxes this year and they want more.

Is Obama Getting Illegal Contributions?

Obama's fundraising has set records and is truly amazing but is it all above board and legal? He has raised an astounding amount online in small donations that don't get the scrutiny of donations above $200 and lots from the sale of Obama paraphernalia like tee shirts and such. Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs has obtained a donor list and has started going over it and there appears to be many oddities, like lots of names from overseas and multiple small donations from the same people on the same day with some adding up to more than the legal limit over time. I am sure Tony Rezko taught Obama a thing or two about how to cover up illegal donations and he probably learned a bit from the Clinton machine as well. Anyway here is a bit of what Pamela has uncovered so far.

Other overseas contributors are making multiple small donations ostensibly in their own names over a period of a few days, some under maximum donation allowances, but others aggregating in excess of the maximums when all added up. So while some of the contributions appear legal, others appear clearly over the maximums allowed without greater reporting requirement. Some of the contributions may bel egal as reported, but "fishy" can only describe the Obama campaign reporting with regard to aggregate contributions. The countries and major cities from which contributions have been received France, Virgin Islands, Planegg, Vienna, Hague, Madrid, London, AE, IR, Geneva,Tokyo, Bangkok, Turin, Paris, Munich, Madrid, Roma, Zurich, Netherlands, Moscow, Ireland, Milan, Singapore, Bejing, Switzerland, Toronto, Vancouver, La Creche, Pak Chong, Dublin, Panama, Krabi, Berlin, Geneva, Buenos Aires, Prague, Nagoya, Budapest, Barcelona, Sweden, Taipei, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Zurich, Ragusa, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Uganda, Mumbia, Nagoya, Tunis, Zacatecas, St, Croix, Mississiauga, Laval, Nadi, Behchoko, Ragusa, DUBIA, Lima, Copenhagen, Quaama, Jeddah, Kabul, Cairo, Nassau(not the county on Long Island, lol), Luxembourg (Auchi's stomping grounds), etc, etc, etc, but are not limited to these countries, as we've have just begun to read through almost 500 pages.

There are way too many overseas contributions and I find it hard to believe they are all American citizens. How does the FEC monitor that? Some of contributions appear to be "bundled" from one person as source to hide the contributions of many, and an example of one among many such "incidents" will clearly show why I arrive at such a conclusion.

I know this will not bother hardcore Obamabots and lefties who turn a blind eye to this sort of thing but it will bother a lot of swing voters that don't even like the appearance of corruption. Obama did get his start in Chicago where politics and corruption are practically pseudonyms. We'll see what else she is able to uncover as she has just gotten started and maybe some other bloggers, like Michelle Malkin's team, should wade in and give her a hand since we know the MSM won't.

Update: Welcome Hillary Supporters for John McCain and RCPers!

Are We In For Thirty Years Of Cooling?

I have written many times that ocean currents control the climate of earth and some in major ways. We have all heard about the El Nino and La Nina shifts in the Pacific that occur every few years and last for a year or so and how they can have dramatic impacts on the weather. Well there is a larger shift underway that occurs every twenty to thirty five years called the Pacific Decadal Oscilation and lasts just as long. Satelite imagery shows it switching from it warm mode to its cool mode as the graphs and pictures show in this pdf document by Don Easterbrook of Western Washington University's Dept. of Geology. It had been in its warm mode from about 1977 to 1998 accounting for much of the warming we had experienced and for the global cooling scare prior to that. I am not a scientist but that seems to also coincide with solar cycles that also play a large role in global temperatures. Other evidnce points out that higher CO2 levels in the atmosphere are caused by this warming and that CO2 does not cause the warming. If you can't view the pdf document the article is also at Icecap and here is a snippet.

Addressing the Washington Policymakers in Seattle, WA, Dr. Don Easterbrook said that shifting of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) from its warm mode to its cool mode virtually assures global cooling for the next 25-30 years and means that the global warming of the past 30 years is over. The announcement by NASA that the (PDO) had shifted from its warm mode to its cool mode is right on schedule as predicted by past climate and PDO changes (Easterbrook, 2001, 2006, 2007) and is not an oddity superimposed upon and masking the predicted severe warming by the IPCC. This has significant implications for the future and indicates that the IPCC climate models were wrong in their prediction of global temperatures soaring 1F per decade for the rest of the century.

Just another inconvenient truth for Al Gore and his gaggle of scaremongers that he is making millions from. Al Gore is a politician with a socialist agenda and not a scientist, he got Ds and Fs in the sciences while in college. The climate is not a static thing and never has been, it has been in a state of flux for millions of years and will continue to be no matter what man does or does not do. The earth likewise is not a stable or static thing and is constantly in a state of change and man does not have any control over it.
There is at least a half dozen very interesting articles at Icecap so if you are interested in debunking the warmists head on over there and read around at they update daily so bookmark them.

Banned By Big Brother Government

Or the nanny state liberals.

Krauthammer Skewers The Arrogance Of Obama

The omniscient, omnipotent Obama One has built a massive cultlike movement of swooning masses where he is able to heal all that ails this world just by electing him. Charles Krauthammer has a must read column on the arrogance of a man that essentially has accomplished nothing in his life and thinks he can makes the oceans recede. Yeah he graduated from Harvard and was president of its esteemed Law Review but he did not author one article for it and has not published one scholarly paper ever. Obama did write two books all about the one topic he cares or knows anything about, himself, as Charles points out.

It is a subject upon which he can dilate effortlessly. In his victory speech upon winning the nomination, Obama declared it a great turning point in history -- "generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment" -- when, among other wonders, "the rise of the oceans began to slow." As economist Irwin Stelzer noted in his London Daily Telegraph column, "Moses made the waters recede, but he had help." Obama apparently works alone.

Obama may think he's King Canute, but the good king ordered the tides to halt precisely to refute sycophantic aides who suggested that he had such power. Obama has no such modesty.

Do read the whole thing as it gets better and better.

Plus on a related note Obama's latest gaffe is another doozy showing how little grasp of history he has. This one is from a recent speech in Indiana.

Throughout our history, America’s confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier, from the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor, to the threat of nuclear annihilation. Americans have adapted to the threats posed by an ever-changing world.

Now if I recall my history correctly it wasn't a single bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor but two massive waves of fighters and bombers dropping hundreds of bombs and torpedos. Can you imagine the brougha the MSM would be making if John McCain or George Bush said something so stupid but Obama is going to free the world of nuclear weapons and stop the oceans from rising while curing all the sick so the press will ignore it. The gaffe is in the opening remarks of this speech, courtesy of Cap'n Ed.

Yet he wants to cripple our defense abilities. The man is not fit to be Commander in Chief.

New McCain Ad

Pretty good contrast ad between Barack and John, Obama is willing to say or do anything to get elected since its all about His Hopeness, John took a politically risky position in full support of the surge strategy that has turned Iraq around because it was the right thing to do. As John quipped at the time;"I would rather lose an election than for the US to lose a war".

Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader

Goat needs to get on this show, I have missed only a couple of questions since I have been watching and I could use the cash.

Sidebar Update

I added Energy Tomorrow podcasts/radio to the sidebar and I encourage my readers to have a listen to Jane Van Ryan, my inside connection to the American Petroleum Institute, and her very informative guests.

Barack Stuck Between Iraq And A Hard Place

Nifty little video put together by the McCain team on Barack's ever changing positions on Iraq. He was against it till his buddy Tony Rezko had a lucrative contract there and the flopped back to full retreat in defeat mode.

Just What Does Obama Mean by This

In a recent speech Obama spoke of the need for a "civilian national security force" but just what would they do?

We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.

Would this be the Obamassiah's "brownshirts" used to crack down on those that disagree with him and his policies? The comment comes at 16:45 in this July 2nd speech in Colorado.

His record on crime is not very good so I doubt they would be going after the gangbangers that terrorize gun free Chicago, DC, LA and other major cities. He is for open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens so they won't be going after them, since he opined to La Raza that ICE was terrorizing neighborhoods.

Cap'n Ed has much more at Hotair and asks some more pertinent questions.
Obama needs to clarify what he means by “civilian national security force”, and how it would be funded. After all, we have a panoply of federal security agencies already: FBI, BATF, DEA, and more, plus the National Guard on the state level. Where would Obama get the money to fund it at the same level as the Pentagon? What would its mission be, and where would it get its authority? What would be the lines of jurisdiction?

I thought we already had a civilian security force in the form of armed citizens protected by the 2nd Amendment and our right to keep and bear arms. It sounds like a massive expansion of government and a federal employment gambit to me. This is on top of his requirement that all high school and college students do a required amount of community service for free in order to graduate, 50 hours a year for high school and 100 hours a year for college, in other words, mandatory volunteerism or slavery. I think Obama has no idea what the hell he is talking about anymore. This guy is clearly out of his liberal faculty lounge league when on the national stage.

Busting The Global Warming Myth: Updated

There is zero evidence of the greenhouse effect of carbon emissions so says a scientist and former alarmist. Empirical evidence and facts do not support the theories or computer models. This is a must read article in the Australian by someone that has been studying it for years, David Evans, who describes himself.

I DEVOTED six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian Greenhouse Office. I am the rocket scientist who wrote the carbon accounting model (FullCAM) that measures Australia's compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, in the land use change and forestry sector.

This what he has to say in part but go read the whole thing as he shreds the alarmist's myths.
1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.

If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. If we had found the greenhouse signature then I would be an alarmist again.

Hattip, Ace and Gabriel who have more.
Funny that it is the left that it so gaga over global warming while also claiming science is superior to religion except when scientific emperical data gets in the way of their favorite religion, environmentalism and global warming alarmism.

Update: As always there is much more good stuff debunking the global warming myth at Icecap.

How Will Obama Adjust To The New Reality In Iraq?

Will he continue to kow tow to the moonbat peace activists like Code Pink, one of their founders is a major bundler, or will he decide to support a fledgeling democracy and ally in the Middle East? In a recent editorial he wrote that he still plans to start withdrawing troops immediately if he takes office with the same sixteen month timeline he has been touting since he decided to run for president which top military brass says is impossible. Most of the time he doesn't sound like he even has a clue to what is going on over there and just spews endless left wing talking points that are often demonstratably false. He plans to visit there soon but will he even listen to what Iraqi leaders and the Generals tell him or will he arrogantly assume his way is best despite his ignorance?
Frederick and Kimberly Kagan and Gen. Keane recently returned from Iraq and gave a must read report in today's WSJ on "The New Reality in Iraq". Terrorists are still able to kill people here and there, its what they do, but their abilities to do so have been decimated and the people are sick of them.

All of the most important objectives of the surge have been accomplished in Iraq. The sectarian civil war is ended; al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) has been dealt a devastating blow; and the Sadrist militia and other Iranian-backed militant groups have been disrupted.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government has accomplished almost all of the legislative benchmarks set by the U.S. Congress and the Bush administration. More important, it is gaining wider legitimacy among the population. The attention of Iraqis across the country is focused on the upcoming provincial elections, which will be a pivotal moment in Iraq's development.

Another key point they make is that Iraq is eager to expand its oil production and that will help to put more downward pressure on the futures speculation market that drives the price of oil. Anyway go read the whole thing it seems that light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter and its not a freight train headed our way.

My First Warning

I have been linking to and quoting articles for four years now and got my first warning today about copyright infringement. My crime, I excerpted a half dozen paragraphs from a 15 page article in the Boston Globe on Obama's ties to corrupt Chicago slumlords with full credits, links and encouragement to go read the whole article at the Globe's site. I have no desire to get myself or Blogger in trouble so I edited the post down to make sure it fit in with the Fair Use guidelines set down under US copyright law which allows for quotation for commentary purposes. Furthermore I receive zero economc benefit from this blog, I do not have advertisement from which I receive monetary compensation. This follows in the path the AP has taken in regards to their articles and is a violation of the 1st Ammendment guarantees to free speech. I also believe this came not to protect the Globe's copyright but to repress negative commentary on their messiah, Barack Obama, since the Globe is a bastion of left wing negativism of the right. The Globe did not have the temerity to contact me so they used their surragate Google to notify me while I appreciate the heads up I did not violate fair use conditions.
I have seen several of my blogging friends reprint entire articles so let this serve as a warning to them, don't do that, it hurts us all and casts a negative light on citizen journalism.

Bush Drops OCS Ban And Oil Prices Drop

Just as I have written many times the laws of supply and demand work and just the prospect of future supplies caused the futures market to drop the price on a barrel of oil $9.25 almost immediately. Futures traders bet on a dwindling supply with increased demand to buy future commodities like oil at today's prices in the hope those prices will continue to rise so they can sell their shares for a profit. Larry Kudlow has more here and echos the call to drill, drill, drill.
Meanwhile Newt Gingrich delivered the Drill Here, Drill Now petition to Congress today with over 1.3 million signatures that want our domestic resources developed and used for the benefit of the American people now. When I signed it there were less than 5,000 so I am thrilled to see so many jumping on the wagon, plus poll after poll shows a vast majority of people want to exploit our domestic resources in an environmentally responsible way.
My contact at the American Petroleum Institute confirmed that the Gulf oil rigs did not have any spills despite Cat 5 hurricanes Rita and Katrina passing right over them. In fact there is greater risk of catastrophic spills from massive oil tankers transporting oil from overseas than from offshore oil rigs and that more oil contamination comes from natural seepage than from commercial exploitation or usage.
The GOP has a winning platform to run on and win and they should take full advantage of it, do it all. We need to develope an alternative to oil but untill we can we need to drill here and now and not trust in some miracle cure coming anytime soon, its not and oil and coal remain our cheapest most efficient means of delivering energy into our economy in a currently viable way.
The environmentalists love the idea of electric cars but they fail to take into account what goes into making the batteries that run those cars. The other alternative is the hydrogen fuel cell which has promise but is still decades away from being viable considering the infrastructure to support it is now nonexistant and biofuels is the dumbest idea of all. I know I would rather roast my corn on the BBQ and eat it than feed it to my truck.

Yes, President Bush Lifts Ban On Offshore Oil Drilling

Well that got rid of the Executive branch blockade and puts that political hot potato squarely in the laps of the Democrat's leadership in Congress, mainly Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. The congressional ban is a year to year ban that must be extended every September and this year it hands the Republicans a potent weapon if the Democrats balk about ending the ban. The American people overwhelmingly want to exploit our domestic resources and to keep all that money at home while creating lots of new jobs. Our expenditures for foreign oil are the major contributer to our trade deficit and that could be nearly erased by tapping our own resources. We need the Drill Here and Drill Now!

How Obama Got Where He Is:Updated

It appears that Barack is much better at burning bridges than building them and has become very adept at turning his back on key constituencies once elected. He talks about a new kind of politics but has played the old school Chicago style of politics while accomplishing very little other than getting elected and that came because he got other candidates removed from the ballot so he ran unopposed in a gerrymandered district. Ryan Lizza has a long but interesting article in the New Yorker that details just how Obama got where he is today and its not a fawning piece but rather an unflattering look at Obama's rise through Chicago politics. It also shows him being much closer to convicted fraudster Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers and the Chicago machine than he lets on, he runs as an outsider but works as an insider. This has angered many of his former constituents and supporters who see him as just using them as stepping stones in his quest for power and an arrogant egotistical elitist willing to say or do anything in pursuit of that power. He is not a new kind of politician but just a typical old school far left radical with a soaring oratory when reading from a script. It is the unscripted moments that show just who he is as he umms and ahs and flops around on issues dependent on who he is speaking to, oftentimes not saying anything with a lot of words.
Update: Don't miss this great column on Obama's outsized ego by Jonah Goldberg, like his decision to deliver his acceptance speech at Mile High Stadium intstead of the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Obama says he wants to give the common folk more "access" to the process. Only a man with an Olympian's sense of entitlement to mass worship could describe such a choreographed descent upon a place called "Mile High" as an effort to bond with the common man. A demigod, it seems, is never so tall as when he stoops to bask in the adoration of the little people.

Mike Yon Is Abroad Again

His latest dispatchs are from Thailand where he was trying to get into Myanmar to document the aftermath of cyclone Nargis and the devastation it wreaked on the people there. He was denied a visa of course but a friend of his was able to get in and took some pictures and Mike wrote up the sad story in his latest post. The military Junta that governs Myanmar has largely abandoned the people there and has refused almost all outside relief efforts to get aid to those suffering. The news is grim and disturbing as are some of the pictures but it is a must read piece if you wish to understand how horrible the situation really is.

Saturday Fun

I got this from MKH, its been going around but she has more on the creators and more videos by them.
Nozzlerage

This one is from Newsbusters by Minnesotans For Global Warming they had another cute video I posted a while back.

The Difference In The Leftosphere And The Rightosphere

It shows especially when a well know person becomes ill or passes away. When Senator Kennedy was recently diagnosed with brain cancer bloggers and commentators on the right expressed condolences for his family and wished him well in his fight or said nothing at all. Today when Tony Snow passed and last week when former Senator Jesse Helms did the left, the kind and caring creatures that they are, has a hatefest. They seem to get into a competition to see who can post the most boorish, profane and hatefilled comments. Protien Wisdom has a round up of some of the crude bile being spewed by those charming compassionate kooks at the Daily Kos and HuffPo shut off comments to a post about Tony's passing after her experience with those intellectual heavyweights when Tony announced he had cancer. Even the AP made some snide comments in their reporting. Geez don't those folks know that old rule, if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all, it is one thing to disagree with someone and another to be a boorish ass. It just goes to show that those who claim to be the kind and gentle souls based in reality are really just juvenile punks living in their lalaland.

Godspeed Tony Snow

His cancer finally caught up with him, dang, he was such a good and decent man an icon for all that is good and right. Through his battle he never wavered and taught us all to embrace life not just in this world but in the next. He will be sorely missed. My prayers go out to his wife and children. I know how they feel in a personal way having lost my father to cancer much to soon. I found this excerpt of an article Tony wrote for Christianity Today over at Michelle's.

Blessings arrive in unexpected packages—in my case, cancer.
Those of us with potentially fatal diseases—and there are millions in America today—find ourselves in the odd position of coping with our mortality while trying to fathom God’s will. Although it would be the height of presumption to declare with confidence What It All Means, Scripture provides powerful hints and consolations.

The first is that we shouldn’t spend too much time trying to answer the why questions: Why me? Why must people suffer? Why can’t someone else get sick? We can’t answer such things, and the questions themselves often are designed more to express our anguish than to solicit an answer.
I don’t know why I have cancer, and I don’t much care. It is what it is—a plain and indisputable fact. Yet even while staring into a mirror darkly, great and stunning truths begin to take shape. Our maladies define a central feature of our existence: We are fallen. We are imperfect. Our bodies give out.

But despite this—because of it—God offers the possibility of salvation and grace. We don’t know how the narrative of our lives will end, but we get to choose how to use the interval between now and the moment we meet our Creator face-to-face.

Second, we need to get past the anxiety. The mere thought of dying can send adrenaline flooding through your system. A dizzy, unfocused panic seizes you. Your heart thumps; your head swims. You think of nothingness and swoon. You fear partings; you worry about the impact on family and friends. You fidget and get nowhere.

To regain footing, remember that we were born not into death, but into life—and that the journey continues after we have finished our days on this earth. We accept this on faith, but that faith is nourished by a conviction that stirs even within many nonbelieving hearts—an intuition that the gift of life, once given, cannot be taken away. Those who have been stricken enjoy the special privilege of being able to fight with their might, main, and faith to live—fully, richly, exuberantly—no matter how their days may be numbered.

We would all do well to take those words to heart.

The Call Of The Wild

Jack London's book was/is one of my all time favorites and I do know that call, it is over whelming and powerful. There is nothing like the feeling of being immersed in God's creation, cut off from all that is modern man's creation of concrete jungles. A cinematic version is playing tonight so I am of course watching and dreaming. I may go by the screen name of Goat but a wolf's spirit runs through my heart and has for as long as I can remember.

DDD Nancy Pelosi Says Drilling For Oil Is A Republican Hoax

I swear you can't make this stuff up, here is the video of Don't Drill Democrat San Fran Nan calling drilling for domestic oil supplies a hoax.

(HT: Gateway Pundit who has more)
Her plan to ease the fuel price crunch, federal sudsidies, er taxpayer dollars, for public transportation but drilling for oil and expanding refinery production is just a Republican hoax. Nancy I can't do my job riding the bus and that is no hoax.
Meanwhile more and more members from her caucus are coming over to the GOP side of the aisle in support of more domestic energy production, AKA drilling for oil.
My continued pounding on this issue got noticed by Jane Van Ryan of the American Petroleum Institute and host of Energy Tomorrow radio who emailed me with some interesting links to some fact sheets that they have put out, here and here
Here is an audio of her and Doug Morris API's group director answering some questions about energy production and busting Democrats' myths.

And here.
