Quotes And Musings

"Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph."-- Thomas Paine (American Crisis, No. 1, 19 December 1776)

We have no choice but victory in Iraq, Afganistan and wherever else these islamists want to fight.

"It has ever been my hobby-horse to see rising in America an empire
of liberty, and a prospect of two or three hundred millions of
freemen, without one noble or one king among them. You say it
is impossible. If I should agree with you in this, I would still
say, let us try the experiment, and preserve our equality as long
as we can. A better system of education for the common people
might preserve them long from such artificial inequalities as are
prejudicial to society, by confounding the natural distinctions
of right and wrong, virtue and vice."

-- John Adams (letter to Count Sarsfield, 3 February 1786)

Well we reached the number 300 million recently and we are a still a society of freemen and markets though some might label folks like the Kennedys as American nobles. Yes, we have had family political dynasties in this country, many of them, dating back to the very beginning. They are still held to the power of the vote and power can often lead to corruption of any politician not held fast by core moral strength. This is why politics is local not national as to whome we select to represent our district and why I see no sweeping change come Nov.7.
John Kerry considers himself a Noble and that he deserves to be the President because he is John Kerry and fought in Vietnam. We should forget about what he said and did when he got back, right. Well, Lurch has won the "Foot-in-Mouth" award again by inferring that the great Americans that join our Patriot Armed Forces are stupid and had no other choice. He should know better but he is known for his Freudian slips. Our military does not accept "Gomer Pyles" or "Forest Gumps", in fact all officers and a very high percentage of GIs have some college, after all we are a high tech operation. They want the cream, not the dregs and from the reaction on the airwaves today, our Milfolks are not happy at all, with Anapolis, Westpoint and the rest of the Military Academies being the toughest to get into and with the most demanding academic structures of any univerities in America. I can guarantee that every young Marine Lt. accepting that diploma is sharp as a razor, tougher than nails and well versed in Shakespeare.

"Whatever may be the judgement pronounced on the competency
of the architects of the Constitution, or whatever may be the
destiny of the edifice prepared by them, I feel it a duty to
express my profound and solemn conviction ... that there never
was an assembly of men, charged with a great and arduous trust,
who were more pure in their motives, or more exclusively or
anxiously devoted to the object committed to them."
-- James Madison (in a, Circa 1835)

Remember the Judges and who appoints them and confirms them, and who makes law, the Senate confirms them and the Congress makes law and is divided in two parts. It is a shame The Federalist Papers are not tought anymore, vote GOP and maybe one day they will be again.
