Good Stuff

Select quotes from today's Federalist Patriot brief:

THE FOUNDATION
"[W]hen People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders." --Samuel Adams

INSIGHT
"Why, it appears that we appointed all of our worst generals to command the armies and we appointed all of our best generals to edit the newspapers. I mean, I found by reading a newspaper that these editor generals saw all of the defects plainly from the start but didn't tell me until it was too late. I'm willing to yield my place to these best generals and I'll do my best for the cause by editing a newspaper." --Robert E. Lee
It seems the press has been second-guessing military operations for a long time.

IChThUS IMPRIMIS
"Just remember that Jesus didn't die on the cross for you to run from what is right. And war heroes didn't die on the battlefield for you to cower away while this country is destroyed. ... If you do not do that which you know is right, you will never know what kind of happiness and peace of mind you might have attained in this life." --Mike Adams

FAMILY
"You must...understand that the advice you give your children -- whether good or bad -- will be remembered. Your power to influence your family's attitudes about the culture should be seen not as a burden but as an innate quality that is always active. You must never, ever forget that it is impossible to choose inaction on your part in the arena of influence. A decision to go with the cultural flow -- a decision on your part not to fight the culture, to stay away from the conflict and take the easy route, to just lay low -- does not negate the influence you have on your children but results in your influence being a negative one. A decision to not make a decision is still a decision. Inaction, in itself, is an action. In other words, you are not a neutral force in your household; your action or perceived neutrality is a force that will shape your home and the personalities, choices, morals and values of your children for the rest of their lives. ... [Y]our kids don't need you to be just another friend. They need you to be their parents." --Rebecca Hagelin

CULTURE
"Standards of acceptable behavior have been spiraling lower in America as ever baser, more destructive behavior has grown and has been given resigned acceptance as the norm. The moral relativism embraced by elitists in the media, government, universities, Hollywood, and elsewhere has twisted average American's views of acceptable conduct to the converse of what traditionally has been considered acceptable, civilized behavior. Americans are becoming tolerant of everything that is rotten and intolerant of many things that are good, destroying lives and eroding our freedoms as Americans." --Chris Field

No, we are most definately not alone Sheepdog. It seems are founders were not restricted by the blinders of myopia or incorrect political correctness.I am daily amzed at their foresight when compared with the retoric from the left today. You know the Goat,I will stand with Patrick Henry etal.I shall not bear the shackles of socialist slavery,I will fight to my death.I have said before that I would have fought for the Confederacy and that has nothing to do with the sin of slavery(still practiced by muslims in many African nations)but for Federalism and States Rights to enact their own laws according to their constituency.I am sure some 90% of federal duties could be left to the states and the free market.
