Ruh Roh, Obama Takes On Rush Limbaugh
I don't know if taking on the undisputed king of talk radio is what Obama really wants to do, Rush only reaches around 20 million ears in hundreds of markets around the country. Rush has said he wants Obama to fail with his trillion dollar nonstimulus generational theft act and I agree with him. I want Obama to be successful at protecting the country not bankrupting it or socializing it. Here is what the New York Post reported Obama told the Republican leaders in a recent meeting about his massive spending bill.
President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
To the Democrats bipartisanship means the GOP rolling over to their demands not working with the GOP to actually fix things. Obama also had the audacity to tell Eric Cantor "I won" when Eric questioned several aspects of the "stimulus" bill. The only people this theft act will stimulate is every liberal special interest group and won't create any jobs or stimulate the economy in any way like across the board taxcuts would.
Rush responded today via Byron York.
To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective. Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing "eternal" power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.
Rush is of course correct and though I usually listen to Dennis Prager in that time slot I will be tuning into Rush on Monday. Rush is also right that the GOP should keep their hands off this crap sandwich and let the Democrats eat it all on their own, the Demcrats have the votes to pass it if they really want it without GOP support.
Update: I like Glenn Reynold's take on the "stimulus" theft act.
“This is not so much a stimulus, as a massive transfer of wealth from the politically unconnected to the politically connected.”

Rush towers over Hussein in every area of life you could think of...
WTF, at least El Rushbo is constitutionally qualified to be President!
Rush is no doubt influential, but apparently not as influential as ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, NYT, LAT, etc., etc., because Obama was elected anyway.
So, what's to fear? Isn't dissent the highest form of patriotism? Aren't diverse ideas welcome?
The biggest question I have is, "Why isn't any Republican politician being singled out by Obama - don't any of them give him cause for concern?"
Why does a politician, comfortable in the knowledge that "[He] Won", feel the need to single out a private citizen for scorn when discussing a bill in Congress?
Republicans lost because they were Democrat-Lite. Republicans can NEVER outspend Democrats, so they should NEVER try. Show fiscal restraint now and let the Democrats take full credit for out of control spending that dwarfs the previous out of control spending that the Republicans foisted on us in by 2005-06.
