Romney All But Declares Presidential Intentions
On Monday, MA Governor Mitt Romney vetoed an expanded emergency contraception bill that easily passed the house and senate citing his pro-life stance.
Let me explain something. NO governor of this state would do such a thing unless he had no desire or plans to run for re-election. He effectively kissed MA goodbye yesterday with this action as well as an editorial in the Boston Globe where he said, among other things, that he was a ''pro-life governor" who wishes ''the laws of our nation could reflect that view." Calling the country ''divided over abortion," he says "Today, Romney describes himself as a ''pro-life governor" who wishes ''the laws of our nation could reflect that view." Calling the country ''divided over abortion," he says states ''should determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate." ''I am prolife. I believe that abortion is the wrong choice, except in cases of incest, rape, and to save the life of the mother. I wish the people of America agreed, and that the laws of our nation could reflect that view."
Update from Goat: From Kathleen Parker at Townhall
"The slippery slope that wasn't supposed to happen once same-sex marriage was granted is making Everest jealous.
In Massachusetts this week, Gov. Mitt Romney has been butting heads with same-sex couples over birth certificates for their newborns. I'll give you a minute to wrap your mind around that concept."

I like Mitt, governing Mass. could not be easy.He just took a powerful and noble stance. He will have a hard time as a New Englander in the heartland and dixie though Mormon's are generally well respected and accepted with a cslanted brow afterall,we have the snakehandlers too,LOL.
A George Allen/Giuliani or Romney would be a strong ticket.I still like Gov.Bill Owen of Co. though his hat does not appear to be in the ring as yet.
