Goat Meanderings

Some off the cuff Barnyard observations
I don't believe Miers will make it out of committee, if Bush wants to ignite his core for the 06 run he should go for it with the best conservative judge we have. I would suspect Judge Brown might turn down the offer as it came after having been through the mill so recently, leaving a strong bench with Luttig, and Jones leading the field. There is that young Vietnamese fellow,37, that Taranto has mentioned , and has been nominated already to appelate level.

On The Eastern Front
I see the MSM has largely ignored the historic voting in Iraq and the sheeer enthusiasm for freedom and democracy. Good kicked Evil's butt everytime and continues to kick it. When we cease there is all hell on earth. Who in their right mind would want that? Evil is easy to define to those that restrict and destroy freedom. I will add to that , I have the right not to listen to Cindy Sheehan "Valley Girl" speak her flytrap. A high five to fellow bloggers who see and report this for what it is. You want news on the GWOT visit my blogroll and I am workng on some more contacts in the sands of Iraq.

Illegal Immigration
Bush came out strong earlier in the week about deportation and enforcing existing laws. We do however have a labor need to sustain our growth. Today America's youth fills bottom level positions in marketing and business not the labor trades . I am a contractor in Ca. and have many friends in various fields and we know who the applicants are, american teens donot apply for entry level jobs in the trades. It is not financially feasible to pay someone exorbitant wages to push a broom or do unskilled labor at the entry level. Stocking shelves at Macy's is more attractive to american entry level workers than hauling lumber or roofing material. The trades are a great living and I started with a broom in my hand and the immigrants, legal and illegal know this fact, you will move up and get paid more as your skills grow and once you have those skills starting your own business is a snap. That is why they come and are so quickly absorbed by the sponge that drew them here , JOBS. I do state that before a guestworker program can work is two things need to happen first: First secure the borders and second eliminate the anchor baby policy and then we can deal with those already here and working productive jobs and those not.

Absolutely right about the Iraq Election.........The silence is defenning.

As far as Immigration: I don't believe anyone has the balls to take on the problem.

From time to time we get lip-service, but that is all we get.......The proof is in the facts, and the fact is Illegals will continue to pour through our borders.

the Texas border sure need something .... I support the minute men. There are so many illegal's driving around here without drivers licence.

Several years ago a drunk Illegal unlicensed driver almost killed on of my granddaughters, when he plowed into the back of her small sized auto going 70, miles an hour,
Only God preserved her life. The back seat was smashed into the front seat...

I completely agree with you on Miers. She isn't going to get confirmed. Let's hope he looks a little harder this time for the next nominee.

Geesh. I am still stuck on her response regarding proportional representation as part of the equal protection clause. Does she want affirmative action in government??
