Enter Fred Thompson; Updated

Today's must read is by Ramesh Ponurru at NRO, another look at the GOP debate. long but worth the read.

Fred Thompson has officially launched his "exploratory" committee so he can can start collecting money, so important today. I like him and welcome him into the race and believe he should be Mitt Romney's running mate. I have zero intentions of leaving the Romney camp through the primary season but have little problem voting for any of the others in the general should they win nomination, McCain, would require a strong nose clip to cover the stench. The race will be between Mitt, Fred and Rudy so that nose clip won't be needed except in Rudy's case to cover his lack of respect for the prolife position. I don't see Fred, Mitt or Rudy attacking a person for their ideas, just discussing them as ideas not as a platform for personal attacks. I look forward to a strong campaign by all parties involved and welcome it, I know, I am a wierdo political junky.
I saw the term "common sense" conservative used to describe Fred and I like it as my conservatism is not born from ideology but from Barnyard horse sense. I have not read the great tomes on conservative ideology nor desire to. I like a common sense approach to politics not a nuanced frenchied version, at least they woke up. My ticket through the primary season will be Romney F. Thompson .

Don't miss Mark Steyn's "Song of the Week" , my favorite hymn,
"The Battle Hymn of the Republic"
Mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage
Where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning
Of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.

Chorus
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watchfires
Of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar
In the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence
By the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.

Chorus
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ
In burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with My contemners,
So with you My grace shall deal":
Let the Hero born of woman
Crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.

Chorus
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet
That shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men
Before His judgement seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him;
Be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.

Chorus
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom
That transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy,
Let us die to make men free;
While God is marching on.

Chorus
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

As today is the true Memorial Day, my prayers and thanks go out. Read those words close, that is America!

Eye wringing favorite verse,
"In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom
That transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy,
Let us die to make men free;
While God is marching on."

I have the utmost confidence, Goat, that when Fred Thompson enters the race, as it increasingly looks more and more like he will, that you will see the light and abandon Rino Romney in the dust...We need a conservative man of principle in the White House, not a expedient waffle house politician.

I am for Mitt for his fiscal and managerial skills, same goes for Rudy. I like Fred but his resume is not what I look for though he has all the right qualities. I welcome Newt into the race as well as the more strong candidates there are assures the selection of a very strong nominee. Thats what primaries are for, so us political junkies get a constant fix.
