Back to Iraq And the GWOT

Bill Roggio as always has a great summary of the battle on the Sryrian border, the locals are helping and we are pounding the terrorist insurgents. The locals Sunni tribes are sick of the foriegn thugs under AlQueda and are snitching them out to coalition forces. Check out the whole story at The Fourth Rail . Also Chrenkov has his last 2 weeks good news from Iraq at his blog, scroll down, and at OPJ, direct, though his blog is well worth reading often. It appears we are making alot of progress that only gets poo-pooed by the MSM here and the likes of Cindy Sheehan as cities come on line with power water and other services the people are coming around to our way of thinking and know we are there to help them rebuild not occupy them. The draft constitution is not perfect but very good considering they are discussing and debating and yes even fiercly at times, it is with words and an upcoming ballot in Oct. not bullets. Roggio and Michael Yon both make the point that the insurgency is increasingly confined and less welcome as each day passes with the locals sick of violence and just wanting to rebuild their lives and families in peace and freedom. There are several examples of this, the most recent was the horrible stampede on a bridge during a previosly outlawed Shia pilgrimage where around 1000 perished, Sunnis in that heavily Sunni area sped to the rescue risking their own lives pulling people from the river and adminstering first aid and rushing them to the Sunni run hospital in the area. Iraqis are proudly standing up for Iraqis regardless of faith and denomination as nationalism and the knowledge that it is now their country not the baathist's which make up the FRE or former Regime elements, the only Iraqis fighting against coalition forces, they attack troops and police, and then there are five different foriegn terrorist extremist groups which blow people up indiscrimanately. The groups and the FRE generally hate each other and there is alot of fighting between them which also leads us to them and we then clean out both sides. We are making alot of progress if you know where to look for it,it won't be in the MSM. DO NOT miss Michael Yon !!!
