Bayou Folks

Watching C-span and they were interviewing some folks from the bayou country that are used to flooding and riding out hurricanes, country boys riding around in their swamp trucks with chainsaws and winches helping their neighbors. One grizzled good ole-boy growled in that classic bayou brogue" Dis ain't Nawlins, dees folks can take care of demselves". Indeed, I saw houses on stilts, with some wind damage, I saw smiles on faces as neighbors were glad to find neighbors alive, healthy and helping those that needed it. A totally different atmosphere in the country away from the corruption of "Nawlins" and the social pollution of socialist welfare. These folks are largely poor and largely white and they were not crying for help. The interviews are so very different than those from NO .
I watched Blanko's presser and she is proposing a billion dollar bureaucracy to help the 'families wade through the bureaucracy to tap the taxpayer dollar some more . When pressed as to what percentage of that $Bil that would goto direct aid to those families she unwittingly admitted none of it, that it would go to training and paying workers and the necessary bureaucracy to assist the displaced families in La. in raping the taxpayer, I was roaring with laughter. Is this a blatant invitation to the openly corrupt La. politicians or what? I will see if I can find an online link, it is being replayed on C-span. I hope fellow bloggers pick up on it and get this out.
Link to C-span here.

Update: Fellow blogger Karen at KarensKorner is in the path inland in Texas and is as I post getting hammered.
