A Ray of Sunshine

It appears with the arrival of the relief convoy yesterday that some calm has come to the chaos in the swamp that was once New Orleans. I can understand the despair, cut of and not knowing what is going on,completely unaware of the scope of the damage surrounding you for, I understand, about 90,000 sq. miles of destruction near 100% in some coastal communities. I can forgive the disparaging comments as ignorant and barely clinging to hope. Without order and control in the delivery of food and water chaos would have caused many many more deaths as mad scrambles and violence would have broken out over air dropped supplies as was witnessed and thus stopped. The clearance of passable roads was then needed to get relief in without a functioning airport as supplies were being organized and loaded since NO initially appeared to have weathered the storm to a degree attention was at first directed at the flattened Miss coast and Ala also extensively flooded though both states under GOP leadership were much better prepared it seems and realistic. It was tuesday before the levee breaks were discovered and how dire the situation would become very quickly, and many local volunteer efforts were deterred by increasingly violent and armed thugs trying to commandeer their boats. They were pulled for their own safety, of course those innocent awaiting rescue are unaware of this happening, maybe now under armed miltary guard the boats can resume safely on their rescue mission. I hope all local and state authorities can learn some valuable lessons from this catastrophe. The Feds will be slow but they will get there, it is up to those directly involved to have advance planning in place for worst case scenario and La. authorities knew of the worst case scenario ie. a storm of this magnitude hitting the region and were ill prepared even with a good warning period. As far as politics goes its corruption is well known in the south and is a reason it sits at the bottom of the US barrel, a culture reliant on the public dole and held there by regressive socialist policies of the liberal left wing of our government. Southern blacks have been fed a diet of victimhood mentality by the socialist propaganda of the left wing of the DNC for years and have bought into the lie, a tragic mistake and now we see the result stripped of its political cover.

Update: I believe America will show why we are that "Shining City on the Hill" as President Reagan was so fond of calling us. Hopefully the MSM can pull pack from the horror to tell some of the stories of heroism and sacrafice which the nation needs at this time. I would say from what I have seen, the MSM has done a pretty good job as they always have at disaster coverage, they do know the value of heros for selling news.
Update: Don't miss Hugh's coverage of how to help, even Moveon.org has a worthy venture while this spews from the bile holes of the left, (hattip) to Chrenkoff and from the lizardoids at LGF more support links and info.

Thanks,Sheepdog, having a deep legacy in the south, I perhaps understand the historical feelings and context a little bit better than the elite in New York and LA as they are sympathetic to regressive socialism and the nanny state. My maternal family were sharecroppers untill after the end of WWII. I remember my grandparents finally getting indoor plumbing and I am not old, so I do have a perspective on hardship that also comes from weeks in a primitive mountain cabin.
