More on the GWOT and Iran

Benador Associates an International PR firm and speakers bureau it has a great compilation of news and views mainly from the middle-east. Amir Taheri is one of the many writers found there and offers some keen insight into the political and social structure of the region. I found this article of note by him.

IRAN SAFER WITHOUT NUCLEAR WEAPONS

by Amir Taheri

Morocco Times September 16, 2005
At a recent Friday prayer session in a mosque in London the "imam" delivering the sermon went through a list of things for which the faithful were invited to pray. There were the absolute musts, notably Palestine, along with optionals such as world peace and harmony.

One item on the list, however, was new. The believers were asked to pray that "no harm comes to Iran's nuclear bomb."

And don't miss this one from a personal hero, Natan Sharansky whose book "The Case For Democracy" should be required reading in our schools.

by Natan Sharansky

Jerusalem Post September 18, 2005

It did not because a civil war requires two opposing camps fighting each other, hating each other, and most importantly, convinced that their survival depends on the annihilation of each other.

Hmmm, this is interesting (hattip: Right is Right)

NewsMax.com Wires

Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 WASHINGTON -- A Pentagon planning document being updated to reflect the doctrine of pre-emption declared by President Bush in 2002 envisions the use of nuclear weapons to deter terrorists from using weapons of mass destruction against the United States or its allies. The "Doctrine for Joint Nuclear Operations," which was last updated 10 years ago, makes clear that "the decision to employ nuclear weapons at any level requires explicit orders from the president."
