Journey To Garbage Island

This disturbs me very much, part one of a 12 part series that they are half way through. I am an enviromentalist but not of the Al Gore type, I just hate pollution of any sort.

Please go to the link above and check out the the rest of the series so far.

mmm, seems as if there is a section where it all collects that appears to lend credence to the idea that nature takes care of itself, in a way. may even, with time, make it useful for itself.

and i'm against "pollution" myself but only because i see it as being waste of nature itself, meaning we know how to use it and reuse it over again.

just a matter of putting what we know to work for us. and making it work for us is making it work for the environment also.

i'm just a big fan of allowing people themselves come up with solutions rather than government mandates.

I agree Griper, but garbage pollution like this just makes me sad. We can do so much better. I have cleaned up so many tons of litter like this I get really pissed. I don't buy into Gore's hooey but we can take better care of our invironment

I am one of those folks that carries out far more than he carries in and have removed many truckloads of garbage from BLM and National Forest camping areas. It makes me sick to see litter polluting a pristene spot.

Does that mean that you are an environmentalist concerned with actual problems and not the fairy tale ones of the Goratollah? Since I also love the environment I am an avid hunter as we are the ones who actually pay to protect and improve the land.

Yes that would be correct, TFF, I too love the outdoors whether it is hunting, fishing or hiking and nothing ticks me off more than finding a pile of beer cans that are alot lighter to carry out than to carry in. A buddy and I once filled a one ton pick up with garbage from just one campsite on BLM land and another time three truck loads from a favorite fishing hole. Yeah our fees for hunting and fishing licenses go a long ways to protecting what we love.

I've also cleared my favorite fishing sites from garbage, Goat, and pulled so much fishing lines out of the water it's a wonder anything could swim in it without getting caught up in it! This is disgusting and I agree with you. There should be a much better way of going about taking care of our waste!

Goat, the city of New York use to dump barges of garbage in the ocean daily..I don't know if they still do. But they did... Locally, we can't even burn wood at the dump everything that can be recycled is.....stay well....

I know Tap and remember stories of the Hudson river burning.
Angel, Al Gore is not concerned with the environment he is all about controlling the masses though back door socialism.

Every time my friends and I go fishing the first thing we do is start a fire. By the time we're done for the night the whole area is clean. That sort of thing may not work where you're at but here in Missouri that's how we do it.
