Wow , This is BIG

Hey fellow Patriot readers, have you read today's issue yet? I bet a Kennedy staffer is going to be fodder for a raging Teddy, Mary Jo Kopechne is not available for comment. I am sure the desk at the Federalist Patriot vetted it before printing as their reputation is for reporting the truth is exemplary and not ever known for Onion type parody. This is rich, my normal editorial ethic is to reprint just a paragraph or so but this needs to be seen first hand. Todays issue is another outstanding example of Mark Alexander and his staff 's adherrence to excellence and blind luck in this case.

Dear Mr. President—A letter from Teddy Kennedy...
On Tuesday morning, an urgent correspondence from Senator Edward M. Kennedy to President George W. Bush was inadvertently delivered to the publishing headquarters of The Patriot. It seems that one of Mr. Kennedy's aides mistakenly put the letter to President Bush in a Patriot donor-support envelope—which means that the White House instead received a priority message from Sen. Kennedy with a profane "cease and desist" note addressed to your humble editorial staff.
Our editors wrestled with the legal and ethical implications of reprinting this letter for at least 60 seconds before concluding that we should disclose its contents to you, our esteemed readers, verbatim.
Dear Mr. President:
On behalf of the American people, I must say that we are deeply disappointed, offended in fact, with your nomination of Judge Samuel Alito for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Clearly, you're pandering to the right-wing extremists on the fringe of your party.
Yes, Alito was unanimously approved by the Senate as U.S. Attorney in 1987 and for the Circuit Court in 1990.
Yes, when Ronald Reagan nominated Alito to be a U.S. attorney in 1987, he received unanimous consent from the Senate. Yes, when your old man nominated him for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in 1990, he again received unanimous consent from the Senate. Surely by now, some right-wing Internet rag has uncovered my praise for Justice, err, Judge Alito at his confirmation hearing back then: "You have obviously had a very distinguished record, and I certainly commend you for long service in the public interest. I think it is a very commendable career and I am sure you will have a successful one as a judge."
However, he was the lone conservative voice on the Third Circuit Court back then, so I didn't view his confirmation as a threat to our Constitution.
Besides, Mr. President, you know how these back-room wink-and-nod deals are cut. Remember when we agreed to give Reagan unanimous consent for that right-wing nut case Antonin Scalia in 1986, with the understanding that you guys would show us the same favor when it was our turn? Indeed, when my good friend Ms. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, former general counsel to the American Civil Liberties Union, was nominated by my good friend Bill Clinton, she received overwhelming bipartisan support from Republicans.
More recently, knowing that your partisans would invoke the constitutional, err, nuclear option to change Senate rules and force a full-Senate vote on your right-wing appellate nominees, we agreed to release some of them for a floor vote. Then, when you finally got an opportunity to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, you sent up a guy named John Roberts, about whom precious little was known. That allowed us to save face with the American people. Even less was known, publicly, about Harriet Miers, which is why my colleague, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, was kind enough to recommend her for the High Court.


You've nominated a dinosaur, a constitutional constructionist, who can read what the Constitution actually says—and the American people are very upset.
But now you've nominated in her place a man about whom a great deal is known. After 15 years on the appellate court, we know Alito is a dinosaur, a constitutional constructionist, somebody who can read what the Constitution actually says—and this has the American people very upset.
You and your right-wingers seem to cling to the antiquated notion that the Constitution should be interpreted as written. Well, wake up and smell the whiskey! What the American people want is a Supreme Court that will do what we, as their elected representatives, bid it to do. That's the Democratic way.
As I said in my press conference today, "Rather than selecting a nominee for the good of the nation and the court, you have selected a nominee who conservatives think has views as extreme as their own. If confirmed, Alito will fundamentally alter the balance of the court and push it dangerously to the right, placing at risk decades of American progress in safeguarding our fundamental rights and freedoms."
Harry Reid told you to "find a consensus nominee," but you ignored him.
When Harry Reid told you to "find a consensus nominee," you not only ignored his sage advice—you also failed to seek his approval for this nominee prior to your announcement. That, Mr. President, is a disgraceful example of partisanship.
We are gravely concerned that, in the words of my senatorial colleague, Chuck Schumer, "Alito will use his seat to return the court to the injustice of the past." Well, Mr. President, we are not going to let that happen. Pat Leahy feels the same way. "This is a needlessly provocative nomination," he said. "Instead of uniting the country through your choice, you have chosen to reward one faction of your party, the virulent wing of the Republican Party, at the risk of dividing the country." My understudy, John Kerry, echoes these grave concerns: "The far right wing has now forced you to nominate a divisive justice in the mold of Antonin Scalia who does not hold mainstream American values, rather than a qualified woman or minority." Dick Durbin got it right when he called this nomination "an effort to appease the far right wing."
The same talking points have been distributed to my underlings down in the House. Nan Pelosi got them: "The radical conservative right is in charge of your administration."
Until now, Mr. President, we've worked extremely well together. As your far-right radical base has no doubt told you, you haven't yet vetoed a single spending or regulatory-expansion measure we've sent over your way. Heck, your dad's foundation even bestowed upon me its annual lifetime achievement award for public service. But everything hangs in the balance with this nominee, Mr. President—so all bets are off.
So what if Alito has great academic credentials and more judicial experience than 105 of 109 Justices confirmed to the court? So what if Alito is the son of poor Italian immigrants? He may think he's Catholic, but he lacks the integrity of an Irish Catholic like me. None of this matters. I got kicked out of Harvard for cheating on a Spanish exam—so what? I left a young gal to drown when I got sloshed and drove us off that bridge—so what? I am still a Senator.
Judge Alito has demonstrated that he's a strict constructionist who supports states' rights and thinks the First Amendment restricts only the Congress when it comes to our sacred wall of separation between church and state. He would, no doubt, return to states and local communities the decision to have prayer in their schools. He's even approved Christmas displays by local municipalities. Even worse, though, is his support of parents' rights—as if they know better how to raise their kids than the government does. Alito thinks the Second Amendment means what it says, and that, Mr. President, is really dangerous. As you know, far more conservatives own guns than liberals. But my greatest concern is that he's the sort of nut who believes that children in the womb deserve to live, and that husbands—and parents in the case of minors—should be notified before an abortion. Outrageous.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist seems to agree, insisting, "Judge Alito has displayed a judicial philosophy marked by judicial restraint and respect for the limited role of the judiciary to interpret the law and not legislate from the bench."
Well, maybe that was true back when the Constitution was ratified, but not today. What unmitigated arrogance. Frankly, we know that all this "constructionist" stuff is just a ruse to suggest the Constitution does not guarantee the right to kill children before they are born. As you know, that right is what holds our Party together, and we will not turn it back over to the states.
Mr. President, as Chuck Schumer said earlier today, Alito is "a controversial nominee for a pivotal swing vote on the High Court who could shift the balance of the court, and thus the laws of the nation, for decades to come." I'm well aware, Mr. President, that you made a campaign promise to appoint strict constructionist judges in the mold of Scalia and Thomas, but it was only a campaign promise after all. I mean, it's not like anyone would've held you to it.
Candidly speaking, you know as well as I do that the majority of Americans don't support our Democratic agenda—which is why we're so desperate to maintain control of the Supreme Court. If we can't pass legislation by legitimate means, we can still do it by judicial diktat, right?
We'll use the Alito nomination to rally our constituents.
Level with me, Mr. President: Did you use the Miers nomination as a decoy to rally your troops behind Alito? Either way, you can rest assured that we'll use this same nomination to rally our constituents—we will have them whipped into a frenzy and filling our Senate and House campaign coffers with their last pennies. In the end, your Party controls the Senate and can even invoke the "nuclear option." OK, but we will not take up this nomination until January, to give us as much time as possible to unite our base.
Prepare for battle, Mr. President. We are going to use everything in our arsenal, starting with our print and television media outlets, to force you into submission.

Words to Live By

Eighty years ago, Adolf Hitler published an autobiography-cum-manifesto. Its title translates as “My Struggle.” In it, Hitler talked of his desire for revenge against France, the German nation's need to control more land, and the means by which his National Socialist Party could gain power.
It also included, of course, a clear indication of his genocidal intentions against the Jews.
Last week, Iran's president echoed those themes. He talked about his “struggle” – the word translate into both Arabic and Persian as “jihad” -- his desire for revenge against America and the West, the Islamic nation's need to control more land, and the means by which his Militant Islamist movement could gain global power.
He also included his genocidal intention to wipe Israel “off the map.”



It is a shame that I learned of a true Hollywood good guy years later from a blogger in Iraq and not just any blogger from Mike Yon . The good guy is Bruce Willis who has been over there several times with his band on USO tours and is going to be performing at the "Deuce Four" ball, a good portion of those lost in Iraq were in the "Deuce Four" and there bravery and incredible discipline led to the securing of Mosul and the surounding areas intime for the election. If you have read Yon's dispatches, you know. They are back in the States and having a party to celebrate their heros fallen and alive. A Barnyard salute to them and Bruce Willis !

Welcome Home, Sheepdog Sass

For my newer readers and recent blogger buddies that don't know our Sheepdog here in the Barnyard, he has been down in the Gulf region with his church doing the Lord's work for the past couple of months. He is a good and true Sheepdog and has been missed as he helps keep the Goat from going astray. Welcome back buddy and Thank You for representing those of us unable to go help !

Now onto tonights must read from the OPJ , Richard Miniter in an excerpt from his new book "Disinformation;22 Media Myths" debunked the suitcase nuke scenario in a lift to this Goat's heart and very convincingly. This sounds like a must read book as well as this is a highly respected writer.

Like everyone else rushing off the Washington subway one rush-hour morning, Ibrahim carried a small leather briefcase. No one paid him or his case much mind, except for the intern in the new Brooks Brothers suit who pushed past him on the escalator and banged his shin. "What do you have in there? Rocks?"


However chemical,biolgical and radiological bombs are within their reach they do not have the laboratory access for the most part to create those either on any large scale. Iran knows that if it were implcated they would be wiped out. The mullahs are brash foolhardy murderers they are not complete idiots and they are in political thumbscrews. They know even tiny Israel can take them out quickly. If you never read another book, read Natan Sharanskey's "The Case for Democracy" and you will understand why America stands and fights for freedom.

On another note the conservative base is in a hearty joyful uproar over Sam Alito, a burgeoning economy, some relatively minor indictments and Tom Delay won a change of judge from the MoveOn supporting one origiganally slated. I would expect Bill Frist to be cleared as well, I smell DNC dreams evaporating in their own stewpot of blind ambition and fully expect them to make total fools of themselves in the coming weeks. Stay tuned into Powerline and Hugh Hewitt as they can cut these loonbats to shreds before their morning coffee. Hugh and Medved both completely dismantled liberal guests on their shows today.

Again I will give the last word to one of my favorite GOP beauties, Ann Coulter.
Since Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination to the Supreme Court, Democratic senators like Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin — i.e., all the people who had absolutely nothing to do with Miers' withdrawal — have been blanketing the airwaves demanding that Bush now accede to their demands. So it's good to see Democrats are still working on getting in touch with reality.

The Democrats didn't utter a note of disagreement with the Miers nomination. But now they say her withdrawal is their victory, which Bush must be forced to acknowledge by nominating a candidate to their liking. I believe that's what got Bush in trouble in the first place: listening to Democratic Sen. Harry Reid, who recommended Miers for the Supreme Court.

Although the circumstances were unfortunate — we prefer fighting liberals to fighting our president — the Miers withdrawal is an unparalleled victory for conservatives. Liberals were never able to do this to Clinton when he hosed them. It will be a long time before the White House thinks it can use and abuse conservatives again.

The Power to Overcome

Today during some of the very limited TV viewing I do I watched some commemoritive services for Rosa Parks, including the '99 awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal. I also saw some others stories of atheletes overcoming incredible odds and it got me to thinking of all those others with so much to overcome, like the peoples of Iraq and Afganistan or even in our freest of all nations with a sordid racial past. There are millions of little triumphs everyday we don't hear about of people overcoming personal handicaps or injury to succeed anyway.
In the sports world the comebacks of Lance Armstrong from cancer and Hermann Meir from a devastating motorcycle accident to once again to rule the downhill skislopes are incredibly inspiring and well known as are many others. Credit to CBS for this story of a teenager in Nebraska, she is one of the states top young atheletes, volleyball, basketball and is the top miler in the state track and field. The only differrence in her and her peers is she has cystic fibrosis and an impregnable positive spirit to overcome a disease with a life expectacy of just 35 years. I have worked with handicapped folks and as a child I remember their sheer joy for life even if they didn't have the abilities I have.
What does this have to do with Rosa Parks? As a classic southern lady she was faced with a mountain of an obstacle to overcome and bueyed by her faith in the Lord she lifted her eyes up and saw the top of that mountain and began to climb never looking back and with the summit in her sites that we are equal in God's eyes not the government's. Her climbing partner was her minister the unknown Dr. Martin Luther King. Two ordinary, God loving american citizens stood up for their rights peacefully, forcefully and rightiously. A world apart from the words of Louis Farrakan, today and his separatist, segregationist movement, shame her legacy, one they wish to triumph. I grew up in George Wallace run Alabama and have worshipped at the 16th Street Babtist Church and have met many Rosa Parks in my years. Dr. Rice came from the same region of Alabama and is now the most powerful woman in the world. She overcame her obstacles and pursued her goals, a gifted pianist, diplomat, historian, possibly the first woman POTUS and overseer of the greatest political reformation in the history of the middle-east. The only barriors in this country are self imposed and built by a failing school system.
Historically this great nation faces great challenge with dynamic solutions and as a result we learn and grow and become a better country for it. We are facing great challenges again with the threat of islamo-fascism, not all of Islam is radical but 10% of a billion is alot of jihadiist murderers. Despite the Cindy Sheehans and Ward Churchills out there spewing their retoric america must overcome this obstacle as we have so many times before.

This Was a Real Hoot

I just watched Sen. Evan Bayh's speech to the Hew Hampshire Dim party at their annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner, he will give Hillary a tough primary run as he has a solid stump aimed at middle class families and small business owners, he voted for the bill for earmarks in the transportation bill to be allocated to pay for rebuilding in the Gulf region. Though as intelligent he is he has not figured it out yet, bashing the Bush presidency and saying he can do better is not a policy statement., alla Kerry.
Something I always hear in Dim speeches when energy policy comes up and the call for energy independance is the lack of understanding of the oil industry. They fail to acknowledge that the plastics industry relies heavily on petroleum based products as well as many other diverse products available to the consumer. There is plenty of oil, we need refineries to handle it and the oil companies want to build them with the profits they have gained from the enviromentalist tightening of the market. There are trillions of barrels of heavy crude found off shore from Alaska to Chile, there are further trillions contained in the oil shales and sands found here in the US and Canada, the oil companies use their profits for research and developement of new sources and the desire to do so at the lowest cost and at the least impact to the environment. The recent defeat of the bill allowing the streamlining of the building of new refineries is a travesty and so is the investigation into oil company profits as that is a result of supply and demand. Restricting and punishing the oil companies decreases supplies and their ability to deliver them and increases prices. They don't need regulation and enviromental lawsuits blocking them, they need the freedom to do their jobs, providing fuel to power a worldwide need.

Hey, Tommorows Friday!

I like it work is so busy I have little time to blog, anyway, I am Truckee bound in the morning, happy Goat! Harriot Myers just showed the world "Southern Grace", happy and relieved Goat. We just scared the britches off the loonbats as we, as a conservative voice just rocked the boat seriously. The GOP is not cracking it is strengthening it's resolve . The funniest part is I hear the left blaming Dobson and he supported her, ignorant fools they are.

Informal poll question: Will it help or hurt the conservative movement and why? I think it helps as we get to put our message before the people as we get to the essence of the debate. Me, I am a Constitutional Federalist, Confederate. I believe all folks are created equal and the States should be given their full rights granted under our Constitution.

That would include allowing border states to employ their National Guard to control the border regions.

Do you want to show the loonbats what we are made of? Then get off your tail and get involved !!!

In our fragmented, minute-by-minute universe, we get to thinking of the president the United States, a certain George Bush, as the man who blew the Big Blow rescue operation in New Orleans, nominated a crony to the Supreme Court, and now, may lose his arch political strategist over the Judith Miller/Valerie Plame affair. Out of the air comes the appointment of Ben Bernanke to succeed Alan Greenspan as Grand Keeper of Economic Prosperity, and the market reminds us of how much more presidents do than just get in trouble with partisan rivals and the news media.
The market quickly signaled its deep approval of Bernanke,

Yea I am one of those strange people who actually enjoy economics and understands how it works. It is very simple, Gov't stay out and let the free market work, regulation stifles innovation, socialism stifles desire to succeed and taxation and debt lead to bankruptcy. Rebecca Hagelin in her article there, makes this very salient point that we should all be aware of.
Dr. Feulner also gave a hard cold fact that made me feel ill:

Whose Money Is It?

I do believe the two things aside from the Miers kerfuffle, that have the conservatives so rankled is out of control spending and border control. We cannot let the dims get a stroke in on this, we have to move more fiscal conservatives into office like Mike Pence, George Allen and a small handfull of others. We have primaries where we can vote the porkers out. Here is the dilemma, voters like pork, don't like taxes, don't like/ have a solvent SSI program, are over run by illegal immigrants but like their hardwork and complain about drugs and gangs. Meanwhile many sit on their ass, get fat watching idiotic sitcoms, complain and don't bother to vote because 'the line was too long'.
I have been involved, albeit minorly, in third party politics and building coalititions for political action. The '92 campaign got me interested and Perot won me to the fiscally conservative business model for government, I voted for him twice and thus elected Billary Clinton, who balanced the budget on a shimmering mirage of '.bomb' money. If we were not attacked on 9/11 and weren't just hammered by repeat serious hurricanes (Don't Build There) and the damage of incompetent gov't inviting the pork hogs to the trough, we would be well into the black.
It happens in our own households, we're sitting pretty and something bad happens or good, buying a house, and we are back in debt. What do we do to pay for it? We cut back a few luxuries, fine tune the budget, cutback from eight movie channels to two, eat red beans and rice and spaghetti instead of steak. In otherwords we eliminate the frivolous art and feel good subsidies to our diet. Why can't our elected officials think like that?
This is why I joined the GOP as they at least attempt to go in the right direction away from socialism, and for the most part, GOP spending usually makes sense and is practical. We must strengthen the GOP not weaken it by replacing RINOs with good folks and a bit of Barnyard sense. We must build it from within just as the socialists did in the DNC. I like candidates strong on national and fiscal security, social conservatism I admit is a distant third to these two.

What a Beautiful Weekend


I have new neighbors to replace the trash that was there before, good red-staters from Nebraska. They invited me to housewarming party last night and I met a bunch of wonderful folks including the wife of a GI in Iraq, infantryman in the Al Anbar region, the trials showed on her face as we had a long talk as I of course offered my prayers and support which brightened her eyes and lifted her shoulders. One of Mike Yon's dispatches describes arriving at the scene of a massive IED that had mangled a hummer yet miraculously the occupants had survived with minor injuries, her husband was one of those men. He is now in Kuwait after completing his tour and is scheduled to return home soon! He has a beautiful daughter and wonderful wife. She said of course the soldiers want to come home but not until they have completed their mission and said his morale was very high. I can't wait to meet him in person and hopefully get a blog interview.
Speaking of Mike Yon his latest dispatch on the elections will be released tommorrow or you can read an abbreviated version at The Weekly Standard. He also updates on the little Iraqi girl with the bad ticker that the "deuce four" had found and chiseled through red tape to get her to america for treatment. She has had surgery to repair holes in her heart that caused very poor circulation and would eventually lead to loss of extremities and death. Today she is a pink not blue happy little girl within just days of the successful surgery. Her mother just quietly grasps her hands and smiles through tears as she looks at nailbeds that were once black and are now a healthy pink. This is just one of the millions of little stories of success you'll never hear in the MSM.

Rhma did absolutely beautifully during surgery. Her oxygen saturation is now between 87 and 91 and she is pink! She looks like a different child. Her Mom just kept holding her hands, looking at her nail beds and smiling. She has been very stable and has not required any medications to keep her blood pressure up. She is still on the ventilator just to allow her to rest for the night but she'll be off it in the morning. I will keep you posted.

And then, the very next day, Pam added this news:
She's great today, off the ventilator, watching TV, and pink!"

Bill Roggio at the Fourth Rail carried it a step further with deeper research and more contacts within the milbloggers, like Mudville Gazzette, Blackfive, Armor Geddon (one of my favorites) and many others (check their blogrolls). You have got to read some battlefield stories from the tanker at Armor Geddon, great reading on how to use an Abroms tank in urban combat. The guy really truelly loves blowing jihadis up and anything that goes boom and is a great and humerous writer. Sure there is plenty to read about Miers, Plame and business as usual in "the swamp" but when you can feel the titillation of destroying the pariah jihadis by reading these battlefield accounts , why bother with the nonsense?

Roll Tide Roll

I love these SEC defensive brawls, it appears my Crimson Tide has remembered how to win these games. The dream is alive, after a 6-3 baseball score brawl over Tennesee. In our storied past we won these games and we are again. The team will gain huge confidence and momentum from these last two wins. We have a clutch gunslinger in Brodie Croyle that can will his team to victory. I hope we get to show USC what SEC defense is all about. Three more tough games with LSU, Auburn, and the SEC title game.

I found an brilliant essay on this topic by Rabbi Daniel Lappin. America it turns out has deep ties to Judaism as our founders were largely Protestant and their Puritan underpinnings and believed the Jews were God's Chosen People and deeply held to the teachings and based their laws on Torah in the noahide tradition. They considered Jews the teachers and scholars and most understood Hebrew as their Bibles at least the Old Testament were in Hebrew. As a boy I hungrily absorbed the eye-opening Torah teaching of my father, the late Avraham Chayim Lapin z”tzl, along with his terrifying tales of the viciousness of Lithuanian and Polish “goyim” that he endured while a student at Telshe Yeshiva in pre-World War II Europe. My uncles, the distinguished roshei yeshiva, Reb Leib Gurwitz z”tzl and Reb Leib Lapian z”tzl, occasionally commented upon the bloody battle scars borne by their students. Although they would remind us that “goyim” hate Jews, almost as the fulfillment of ancient prophecies, I think they both would have preferred us to evade trouble rather than confronting it. I think they also suspected that their nephew derived more than a little unholy glee from inflicting retaliatory punishment upon our tormentors.

The Plame Game

This whole issue is just nuts as zero laws were broken, Valerie Plame was not a covert operative, she is a desk jocky analyst. They have nothing on Karl Rove or Scooter Libby this is purely a press play by the MSM. For more information on this Human Events leads today with a fantastic breakdown of the idiocy on both sides as to the actual law. I see the noxious game the loony left is playing and has played for years and it is a losing gambit as more and more americans see through their courtroom shenanigans and false charges and the more we ignore them the louder they are going to scream bloody murder.
Update: I forgot to mention Judith Miller wrote a book on germ warfare and had extensive contacts in the very CIA dept, that Valerie Plame worked in, chances are that she already knew Plame. I learned this from callers to Hugh's show and Jed Babbin cohosting ran with it for a bit. It looks like there maybe indictments but not the ones the left wants.

I don't believe Miers will make it out of committee, if Bush wants to ignite his core for the 06 run he should go for it with the best conservative judge we have. I would suspect Judge Brown might turn down the offer as it came after having been through the mill so recently, leaving a strong bench with Luttig, and Jones leading the field. There is that young Vietnamese fellow,37, that Taranto has mentioned , and has been nominated already to appelate level.

On The Eastern Front
I see the MSM has largely ignored the historic voting in Iraq and the sheeer enthusiasm for freedom and democracy. Good kicked Evil's butt everytime and continues to kick it. When we cease there is all hell on earth. Who in their right mind would want that? Evil is easy to define to those that restrict and destroy freedom. I will add to that , I have the right not to listen to Cindy Sheehan "Valley Girl" speak her flytrap. A high five to fellow bloggers who see and report this for what it is. Illegal Immigration
Bush came out strong earlier in the week about deportation and enforcing existing laws. We do however have a labor need to sustain our growth. Today America's youth fills bottom level positions in marketing and business not the labor trades . I am a contractor in Ca. and have many friends in various fields and we know who the applicants are, american teens donot apply for entry level jobs in the trades. It is not financially feasible to pay someone exorbitant wages to push a broom or do unskilled labor at the entry level. Stocking shelves at Macy's is more attractive to american entry level workers than hauling lumber or roofing material. The trades are a great living and I started with a broom in my hand and the immigrants, legal and illegal know this fact, you will move up and get paid more as your skills grow and once you have those skills starting your own business is a snap. That is why they come and are so quickly absorbed by the sponge that drew them here , JOBS. I do state that before a guestworker program can work is two things need to happen first: First secure the borders and second eliminate the anchor baby policy and then we can deal with those already here and working productive jobs and those not.

Wow


I opened my email box this evening to find an interesting and inspiring note from US CentCom about sunday's post. Now it is not everyday an average Joe on the street gets email from CentCom so I opened it with trepidation. It was from a1lt in public affairs for CentCom asking me to link their site in my blogroll, I will and further it by asking my blogger buddies to link it and our readers to bookmark it. Praise from CentCom, WOW, I am just a hard working country Goat and have never served, something I deeply regret so now is my chance to give service to my beloved country. I am waiting to hear from Lores still, who actually inspired me to create a blogger Bible study, and my friends Mary,Cindy,Kay,Sheepdog Sass,Otis Harry,etal please join us in the study of the Lord's Word. I am no expert though I do have some really smart friends that will be contributing as well.

More on the Zarwahiri Letter

I am surprised that I had not found or visited the US CentCom site before but anyway I found their analysis of the letter and the translation which I read as well. It does appear the senior AQ leadership is in hiding and out of touch and I would be sure affected by the recent earthquake. The best part is the description of Iraq as the central front for an Islamic caliphate completely destroying the loonbat left's proclamations that Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism further demonstrating their innate ignorance and unfitness for office in the US.
From the letter,I recommend reading the whole thing:

"A-I want to be the first to congratulate you for what God has blessed you with in terms of fighting battle in the heart of the Islamic world, which was formerly the field for major battles in Islam's history, and what is now the place for the greatest battle of Islam in this era, and what will happen, according to what appeared in the Hadiths of the Messenger of God @ about the epic battles between Islam and atheism. It has always been my belief that the victory of Islam will never take place until a Muslim state is established in the manner of the Prophet in the heart of the Islamic world, specifically in the Levant, Egypt, and the neighboring states of the Peninsula and Iraq; however, the center would be in the Levant and Egypt. This is my opinion, which I do not preach as infallibile, but I have reviewed historical events and the behavior of the enemies of Islam themselves, and they did not establish Israel in this triangle surrounded by Egypt and Syria and overlooking the Hijaz except for their own interests.
As for the battles that are going on in the far-flung regions of the Islamic world, such as Chechnya, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Bosnia, they are just the groundwork and the vanguard for the major battles which have begun in the heart of the Islamic world. We ask God that He send down his victory upon us that he promised to his faithful worshipers.
It is strange that the Arab nationalists also have, despite their avoidance of Islamic practice, come to comprehend the great importance of this province. It is like a bird whose wings are Egypt and Syria, and whose heart is Palestine. They have come to comprehend the goal of planting Israel in this region, and they are not misled in this, rather they have admitted their ignorance of the religious nature of this conflict.
What I mean is that God has blessed you and your brothers while many of the Muslim mujahedeen have longed for that blessing, and that is Jihad in the heart of the Islamic world. He has, in addition to that, granted you superiority over the idolatrous infidels, traitorous apostates, and those turncoat deviants.
This is what God Almighty has distinguished you and your brothers with over the mujahedeen before you who fought in the heart of the Islamic world, and in Egypt and Syria to be precise, but this splendor and superiority against the enemies of Islam was not ordained for them.
God also blessed you not only with the splendor of the spearhead of Jihad, but with the splendor as well of the doctrines of monotheism, the rejection of polytheism, and avoidance of the tenets of the secularists and detractors and inferiors, the call to the pure way of the Prophet, and the sublime goal that the Prophet @ left to his companions"

The AP coverage of the historic and peaceful voting yesterday did their very best to bend it in as negative a path as it could by focusing on a few angry Sunnis and the smattering threats of violence. One reporter I heard audio of for Newsweek sounded disappointed that the day was one of the most peaceful in weeks and appeared to express remorse that it was not as exciting as last january's elections .I just watched an ABC news story that also focused on the negative, they really don't get it.

And completely off topic a warning to pet owners from Karenskorner:
"For those of us with animals......I recently had a neighbor who had their 5-year old German shepherd dog put down due to liver failure. The dog was completely healthy until a few weeks ago. They had a necropsy done to see what thecause was. The liver levels were unbelievable, as if the dog had ingested poison of some kind. The dog is kept inside, and when he's outside, someone's with him, so the idea of him getting into something unknown was hard to believe.My neighbor started going through all the items in the house. When he got to the Swiffer Wetjet, he noticed, in very tiny print, a warning which stated "may be harmful to small children and animals." He called the company to ask what the contents of the cleaning agent are and was astounded to find out that antifreeze is one of the ingredients. (Actually he was told it's a compound which is one molecule away from antifreeze).Therefore, just by the dog walking on the floor cleaned with the solution, then licking its own paws, it ingested enough of the solution to destroy its liver. Soon after his dog's death, his housekeepers' two cats also died of liver failure. They both used the Swiffer Wetjet for quick cleanups on their floors.Necropsies weren't done on the cats, so they couldn't file a lawsuit, but he asked that we spread the word to as many people as possible."

Good Football and Iraqi Elections

My Crimson Tide squeaked out a defensive brawl in the last seconds of a brilliant final drive with a field goal from 30 yrds out . The type of defensive dual so typical of this rivalry, they are always ready for us and often have their strongest game of the season, life in the SEC is not easy for a top team and next weeks game against the Vols won't be easy. I saw the final quarter of the Trojans and Irish and what a game that must have been, another great finish with great drives by both teams in the final minutes with a controversial last second win.

The Election
It went off for the most part quite peaceful and with great turnout in most areas outside the Al Anbar. From scanning reports from Iraq it was one of the more peaceful days as cars were banned from the streets and kids played soccer in the streets as their parents waited in line to vote. This was a historic day for Iraq's democracy and freedom and a tremendous blow to the murderers and their supporters here on the loony left. Hey Cindy Sheehan, eat purple finger! I found this round up of the murderers attacks at the Fourth Rail, quite wimpy for all their bluster.

"- Gunmen fired on two polling stations in Baghdad. No injuries.

- Office of the Iraqi Islamic Party is torched in Fallujah. No injuries

.- Office of the Iraqi Islamic Party is struck by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. No injuries.

- Office of the Iraqi Islamic Party is destroyed in an attack in Baiji. No injuries.

- Terrorists blow up the home of the local Iraqi Islamic Party chief in Ramadi. No injuries.

- Five security guards wounded in a car bombing near a mosque in Kirkuk

- Four civilians wounded in a roadside bombing targeting a U.S. patrol in Baghdad.

- Fifteen insurgents arrested as they prepared to attack polling centers in Mosul. No injuries.

- Power cut in 70% of Baghdad after power lines are sabotaged north of the city.

- Two police wounded in roadside bombing while patrolling near a polling station in Baghdad.

- Civilian killed by sniper fire near polling station in Baghdad.

- Three insurgents attacked an empty polling station South of Basra, and are captured. No Injuries.

- One policeman is wounded after a roadside bomb exploded near a polling station in western Baghdad.

- Fighting reported between a small band of insurgents and U.S. troops on patrol in Ramadi. No casualties reported. "

I love all of the spinoffs and movies and the great hope they portray and the necessity for violent battle at times and have always felt there writers and producers were some of the very best Hollywood has to offer and I abhor Hollywood.

Recently here in NoCal two terrorists rings were busted in Lodi and Folsom prison, not to mention the one in LA. Ayman al Zawahiri and George W. Bush don't agree on much. But al Qaeda's No. 2 leader and the U.S. President are in accord on one thing: Iraq is the central battlefield.
This is just one of the many insights into the mind of the terrorist braintrust gleaned from an extraordinary document obtained this summer by U.S. forces in Iraq and released yesterday by the White House. It is a 6,000-word letter from Zawahiri, presumably in hiding in Pakistan, to al Qaeda's commander in Iraq, Abu Musab al Zarqawi.
We're glad the Administration made the decision to declassify it. It goes a long way toward letting Americans see what we are up against in Iraq and elsewhere in the world. The letter's full text is up on the Web site of the Director of National Intelligence at www.dni.gov.

The GWOT

I know the press counts the bodies and not the successes that is why I prefer alternative sources like Bill Roggio and Mike Yon and until recently Chrenkof and pundits like Ollie North. Bill's latest extensively analyzes the letter between the the bottom Z's of al qaida. This is from around the time of the wrapup in Mosul that Mike brings to you so well. We were kicking butt and taking names then and have since destroyed the ratlines from Syria cleaned up Tal Afar and are working our way through the Al Anbar region, with Iraqi soldiers on point. They are losing badly and the letter expresses that .

The Office of the Director of National Security has published the much-discussed letter from Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al Qaeda's number two in command, to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the commander of Al Qaeda in Iraq. The letter provides insight into the workings of al Qaeda, the perception of Zarqawi's campaign in Iraq and the status of the insurgency. The news that a compromise has been reached to satisfy Sunni concerns over the Iraqi constitution makes the letter all the more important.
The are many interesting pieces of information contained within the letter. Zawahiri confirms that Abu Farraj al-Libbi, who was captured in Pakistan, was indeed a major player in al Qaeda, "The enemy struck a blow against us with the arrest of Abu al-Faraj." However, al Qaeda views Pakistan's operations in the tribal areas as an even greater threat, "the real danger comes from the agent Pakistani army that is carrying out operations in the tribal areas looking for mujahideen." A Good Sunday to All !

Sometimes it is just nice too look back and see how far you have come. The trail into the Palisades region of the sierra, the headwaters of Big Pine creek, looking east towards Owen's valley. I wonder if the glaciers that carved these lakes were destoyed by SUVs and George Bush? Could the Kyoto Treaty have kept those glaciers intact? Dang it my tongue just blew out my cheek now I'll have a mess to clean up.

I would say a pretty quiet news cycle for the weekend other than the typical stirring of the blogger stew, the bomb scare in New York,the islamic connection to last weeks bomb and a new controversial nominee to SCOTUS, nothing too interesting other than Michael Yon has a new dispatch out and the Fourth Rail is popping with good news from Iraq, and Michelle Malkin finds scandal after scandal. Nice quiet weekend, Baaaaa! Plus a couple new additions to the blogroll, Cabe I mentioned last night, and I am adding his brother Stan at The Transcending Sovreignity who recently took the oath to serve our Patriot Armed Forces , a Barnyard salute!

Oklahoma Bombing

I waited to gather more information before posting on it. It appears jihadists motives and links are tied in just as there is credible evidence for that of the Murraw Federal building bombing and the MSM ignores it as usual. Michelle Malkin is as always on top of this and many other stories, that girl is a pure dynamo, I am glad she is on our side. She points to Mark Tapscott who is the main force eyeballing this developing story. We got lucky this time as it appears he blew up too soon. Just think if he had been sitting in the bleachers. Could you imagine what would be streaming from jihadi TV here and abroad. They have all the links, no need for me to repost them. Does the MSM not cover this because it proves Bush right and them wrong?

More on Miers

It appears we are getting that debate on what the court means as conservatives are bouncing all over the place and making that point very clear. Welcome to Goat's place Rooster. The one thing about Bush besides his steadiness in the GWOT is that he has been great at, is in who he appoints to key positions. He has made a couple of mistakes,Brown at FEMA and Myers at BICE but other than that he consistently goes for extreme talent and know how. I think he just gave Chief Roberts a pet "bulldog". Roberts,Thomas and Scalia can write opinion, we need an attack dog to cross question plaintiffs and defendants. I know enough older evangelical Christian ladies from Texas, hattip yall, to know they are tougher than nails when in comes to their morality to not be worried. It sounds like she is a brutal litigator, in other words if you don't have your facts together, she will cut you to pieces is what a Texan attorney that Hugh had call in said that had faced her, knew her,something. Let her do the grilling while the others get to listen, she apparently has the credentials to be chief legal counsel to POTUS and the background to hold the nations highest security clearances. I think many of the punditry feel betrayed and they shouldn't as all their picks are still in a growing rank as Bush continues to hit homeruns at the appellate level.
Heres the deal IMHO, Bush didn't want to tie up the senate for a year as there is alot of work to get done, on immigration, taxes , social security as the Dems were going to tie him up till the midterms by obstructing a Luttig etal, and hope setbacks in Iraq peel off more of the Indies. To be quite honest as a conservative I am more than a little ashamed of what I have seen in the thundering punditocracy of so called stable and objective view points of the Right. Some almost ran over the lefty blogs to slam Harriot Miers and the President. Several of them, Ann, Laura, NRO, etal, etal, I love y'all, just cool the jets on the range no need to saute' the nominee in the frying pan of american opinion before she has a chance to represent herself, pretty shameful behavior.

Yes! Truckee Bound

My job takes me into the mountains tomorrow on a couple of choice jobs to grab as a tradesman, a couple of custom homes in the Truckee, Squaw Valley area, can you say, Happy Goat. I am very good at what I do and I started my trade at minimum wage with a broom in my hand and a backbone now I ply my craft for the wealthy, a nice spot to be in. I will take some pictures of some of the houses that showcase my work, old readers have seen the work we did at the big catholic cathedral here in Sacramento. the pics are in the archives if you choose to look. It is a daily challenge solving the problems of dillussioned architects and uninformed designers for demanding clients. These two I am seeing tomorrow have the money to make a good idea happen. I am going to take over control of our lost website, if I have any readers with website design background email me at goats_barnyard@msn.com I would like to talk to you. I have many reasons to smile, somebody just slapped me with a clue x four, different folks on different days,Wham. I am awake now. I just opened a new doorway in the market of free enterprise and found the key. I used to be an avid D&D player and I just found another route out of the dungeon. A Question

By making the the SCOTUS appointee from outside the court, those very capable judges remain in place and an equally great replacement does not have to be fought over in the Senate therefore freeing the Seanate to take care of other much needed business. From what I have gathered, this was a brilliant and politically shrewd nomination. As Hugh Hewitt has pointed out, she is extremely well qualified. She sounds like a hard as nails Texan to me, not likely to be swayed by the Swamp press corps or anyone else for that matter. I know I have a few Texans that read me, let me know what you think about it here or mail, or anyone else for that matter, we will all learn from the discussion.

I will leave this space open for the debate for a few days, I hope it is vigorous and representative of the glorious nation we belong I hope the pinheads on the left chime in as well! I support Harriot Miers.

There is alot of informative reading out there in cyberland. I came across a great policy speech by Condoleeza Rice at Princeton this week, boy is she good, the transcript is here, (hattip:Tigerhawk) and a must read.
Amir Taheri has an interesting piece up on Karen Hughes' trip to the Middle-East and what she is likely to find, that the anti-americanism we hear about is propulgated by western media, not by the Joe-blow Arab on the street.
Michael Yon has a new dispatch up on how the "deuce-four"24th ID in Mosul helped a little Iraqi girl get to the US for treatment for a heart condition. If you want to know what the Iraqi people think of the US, read his dispatches from there, imbedded in the battle for Mosul.

To change course alittle to the securing of our borders, the American Spectator has a great piece up by J.Peter Freire on the Minuteman Project with a link to their handbook,(requires Adobe Acrobat), very impressive. I support what they are doing even more so after reading it. Securing the border is prerequisite to tackling the huge numbers already here as total amnesty and total deportation are not politically feasible it must center around an employment program sponsored by employers and a crackdown on all public and private intities that subsidize illegal immigration.

And don't miss another great read from Rabbi Daniel Lapin, something the Goat fails to understand is the hatred of the Jews. Perhaps my readers can fill me in. I am semi-well read and have yet to find a plausible connection outside of Islamism and it's fascist offshoots. Why the hatred? As a Christian I see them as our spiritual father's and the developer's of law and order in society, perhaps that is what the hate. If so why are the supremely controlling and autocratic regimes of fascism and communism so despising of the Jews? Is it that belief in a Higher Being and an afterlife provides HOPE, and a personal striving for goodness? Could it be that Judeo/Christian beliefs expose evil for what it is? Could it be we believe in the freedom of the people to make and adjudicate common law?I fail to understand.

Ponder said he was proud to have marched, calling it his "patriotic duty."
Asked whether he had any close calls with a far deadlier enemy - the Islamic insurgents in Iraq - he said: "Of course I did. That's what happens when you're fighting a war."

Re: The Left

Townhall's and other's writers on the right are having a heyday on the socialist/communist demonstration over the weekend. It was not an anti-war rally as much as an anti-America communist rally.
Dennis Prager expounds on some of the many reasons I joined the GOP, explaining the hysteria of the left.
Prof. Adams, another favorite has some suggestions on gun ownership, the Remington .270 or 30.06 is just as reliable and accurate as the Browning he recommends and considerably less expensive. For home protection, I would recommend the Glock 10 mill or any sawed off scattergun with buckshot. There are also some very fine and extremely accurate air rifles now made with 1200fps muzzle velocity, that's quick and silent varmint control.
Umm, my fellow fiscal conservatives may want to read this and get ahead of it. It is important what we cut. What good does paying for art that bashes America do? What good does welfare do? What good does federal regulation do? We would have plenty of money for infrastructure, roads and levees, if we weren't paying for illegals and drug addicts.

One of the things I miss about living in the south is the thunder, and we just had a little rumble here in NoCal, not enough rain to put down the dust. People have raised funds in all kinds of ways.You've probably heard a story or two about how kids with lemonade stands have been raising money for the victims. But not everybody appreciates such initiative. In Orlando, Florida, kids started up a lemonade stand for just this cause, but without universal applause. A neighbor made a formal complaint based on his alleged uncertainty about whether the money would really be going to help Katrina victims.Did the neighbor have reason to think a scam was going on? Well, no such reason was reported. Just the same, law enforcement, feeling obliged to investigate, dropped by to talk to the family. The kids were apparently not required to shut down their stand, but they felt somewhat intimidated and closed it anyway. Happily, not before raising $350 for the cause. In a single day of operation.Who knows what was eating this neighbor -- maybe he just didn't like all the traffic pulling up to the lemonade stand. But one man's minor inconvenience is another man's life preserver.It’s not the only incident of biting the hand that feeds you -- or that feeds somebody else -- that we've heard about. Incredibly, there have been stories about thugs in the New Orleans swamp shooting at rescuers. Maybe during times like these, obstructionists of all stripes could have the grace to stifle their normal impulses . . . Just a suggestion.
