Why Huckabee Can't Get Traction

Hugh Hewitt points to this piece for Salon from a homestate paper's reporter, The Arkansas Times, that shows some of Mike's ethics problems while Gov., this is just a sample of Hillary's file on him should he get the nomination. It seems he likes "gifts" and other graft.

In his successful 1994 run for lieutenant governor, he set up a nonprofit curtain known as Action America so he could give speeches for money without having to disclose the names of his benefactors. He failed to report that campaign travel payments were for the use of his own personal plane.

After he became governor in 1996, he raked in tens of thousands of dollars in gifts, including gifts from people he later appointed to prestigious state commissions.

In the governor's office, his grasp never exceeded his reach. Furniture he'd received to doll up his office was carted out with him when he left, after he'd crushed computer hard drives so nobody could ever get a peek behind the curtain of the Huckabee administration.

Meanwhile Huck takes a slap at Mitt on illegal immigration and Mitt punches pack, video courtesy of Hot Air, they have transcript if you have trouble with video, ie. dial up.

To counter further protestations about the illegals on Mitt's lawn, it is not his office's responsibility to vet the employees of the landscape company they used.

It appears to me that the Drive By Media loves Huckabee because he's a big government guy. But as you point out he has so much baggage that he'll never get near the nomination let alone the presidency.

Huckabee has a great underdog chance at the nomination. But he'll probably have to do really well early in order to keep interest.

Welcome to the Barnyard, Dee, Huck is a very nice personable man with an ethics problem.
Cameron, everytime he starts to get traction this stuff comes up, nobody wants to trash Mike because he is such a nice guy but he is a big gov't, soft on illegals candidate, not to mention all the ethics problems and shoddy record as Gov.
HiYa Angel, good to see you around.

Sounds like the GOP equivalent of Slick Willy. We really don't need one of our own.

He was definitely pandering to Hispanic voters, which means that like the Clintons, he cares more about winning elections than he does the well being of his constituency or the good of our country as a whole. He reinforces that comparison with his ethics deficiencies.
