What's On Your Menu

I will be at ny buddy's with the broken foot to cook our traditional Thanksgiving dinner tommorrow, usually shared high in the Sierra at the cabin. We will smoke a chicken on the grill, greenbeans and yams on the side with an apple pie to follow. I will stuff the hen with a combination of apples, onions and some fresh herbs and smoke it over a combination of mezquite, plum and oak. We may be a couple single dudes but we will eat good, dang, one thing missing, ladies, the best half of the equation.
Hey all you idiot guys out there, cherish your bride and family, you are blessed to have such and you gals, take care of that goofy guy running around in his boxers. As a divorcee, we appreciate what we don't have so be thankful for, a family.

I have never smoked with plum. How does it taste? I am not a fan of mesquite. I like pecan, apple, or maple. Have you tried using the wood from a bourbon barrel? Damn good stuff.

Hope you holiday went great. I managed the 3 hour drive without falling asleep.

Thanks all !
Ron, plum is good like peach or almond and I have a bunch of it from pruning my trees. Most of the fruit and nut woods are good. I use pecan as well since I have a couple of those in my yard as well. I have heard of using the wood from whiskey barrels, we use the oak from wine barrels out here, readily available from the hundreds of wineries around.

Happy Thanksgiving, Goat! I'm stuffed!

Incidently, my husband doesn't run around in his boxers. He hates boxers! Says that's what his grandfather wore. I bought him a couple of pairs but he won't wear them. LOL! I run around in his boxers. :)

Smoke a chicken?

Nah Deep fry a turkey.

That's the way.

Heidi, if a couple guys watching football is happy and reflective, I don't know.
Shoprat, I hear that's the way to go but a turkey is way too much meat for two people one of which is not a big fan of turkey, me. I like the other white meat, pork.
