Its A New Day
To say I am disappointed would be true but I am an eternal optimist so it won't last long. Mitt did well but not well enough to slow down McCain and unless something really dramatic happens John McCain will be our nominee. I am a Party guy and a team player so now I must reconsider the aspect of vice grips on my nose come November and as unpleasant as that prospect is Hugh Hewitt is correct that there seven really compelling reasons to do just that, the GWOT and six Supreme Court Justices over 80. The Supreme Court is the most important fight for conservatives that there is and if Hillary or Barack is elected then we can expect at least four of the liberal side of the court to step down with a liberal Democrat in office especially if they grow their majority in the Senate.
I do not think we will be facing Hillary in November but a Barack Obama with a massive inspired movement behind him. He is a very hard left liberal, a polite and decent one but still a lefty. Can McCain beat him? I don't know but I do know that if conservatives sit on their hands in protest of McCain he won't stand a chance and we will get a President that is to the left of even Hillary. Yes, John does have his failings and has managed to piss off most conservatives at one time or another but if we lose the Whitehouse we lose the Iraq battle and the Supreme Court for decades and everything we have worked for. I may not be happy with McCain but I damn sure donot want socialism in America so I am checking my collection of vice grips. Ouch, that smarts a bit.
I am glad Mitt and Mike are staying in till the Convention and I don't blame Mike for being a spoiler to Mitt because his supporters were never Mitt supporters to begin with. I don't think McCain will make Mike his VP either because John will carry the South just fine on his own and there are far better choices like Mitt.
Meanwhile the Dems are going to have a nasty fight all the way to their Convention where the candidate will likely be selected by Super Delegates of which Bill Clinton is one. This could turn the Democratic Party on its head in an identity politics war and end up with massive numbers of pissed off voters if it goes to Clinton over Obama especially if he has a delegate and popular vote lead. We need to let them bleed and quietly rebuild the GOP coalition while they fight and bloody each other and their Party. If you haven't voted yet please vote for Mitt Romney and then let's beat the Demorats in November, even if you have a vice grip on your nose.

It may be unsaintly, but I am hoping for a donk bloodbath at the convention.
Obama has a slight elected delegate lead and Hillary a slight popular vote lead as it looks right now. The fight will start over Florida and Michigan delegates that were barred by the DNC and all the candidates including Hillary signed pledges not to campaign there but she left her name on the Michigan ballot and campaigned in Florida as well. It will get very messy.
Uh, so what you're saying is: Ron Paul is our only hope?
