Ken Blackwell Is Right
His piece today in Townhall is well worth reading by all Republicans in our coalition of security, fiscal and social conservatives, especially after Dr. Dobson's third party flap if Rudy is the nominee. Rudy holds essentially the same view I do on the prolife issue, I believe in life but don't think abortion should be illegal except in very late term. The only impact that the President can have on the life issue is in the judges they appoint to the High Courts and Rudy has vowed to appoint Constitutional constructionists to the bench as has Mitt and I am sure Fred and McCain would as well. Putting a life or religious test or you won't vote for them is ludicrous thinking when the aspect of full blown socialism blooms as Hillary walks into the Whitehouse like her hubby did. I was one of the fiscal conservatives, independent at the time, that went to Perot and put the first Clinton in High Office. The GOP cannot do the same thing again.
While I strongly support Mitt Romney and believe him to be our best choice, we have a very strong field that will yield a candidate in vast contrast to a Hillary, Obama or Silky Pony. I hope my man wins the nomination but if not I will get behind my Party's candidate. I will come back to five points that Hugh Hewitt likes to stress.
1) Win the War: the most important thing if we don't none of the rest matter.
2) Secure the Border: It ties into the above with National Security.
3) Confirm Constructionist Justices: The most important aspect of the conservative agenda and the key of the pro-life movement with at least 4 SCOTUS appointees coming in the next two terms.
4) Stop The Spending: Congress has gone crazy with the taxpayer gravy and its got to stop so critical programs can be salvaged before its to late.
5) Cut the Taxes: The Democrats want to raise taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars to pay for all their socialist nanny state schemes.
A crack up like Dr. Dobson speaks would be the worst thing that could happen to the pro-life movement. If that was the driving force in the GOP why isn't Sam Brownback doing better or Mike Huckabee? Reagan's coalition must stick together

yeah, fred's not buying the dr. dobson kool-aid, either.
also, i always wonder why the dems simply cannot understand that higher taxes do not equate to more revenue for the government.
Heidi, Fred has enough of his own problems to worry about despite Dobson, he is falling flat on the trail.
