Democrats Stuck On Stupid In Regards To Energy Policy

Today House leader Nancy Pelosi(D) called on President Bush to open our Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to relieve the price at the pump while refusing to tap our domestic oil reserves like ANWR, the OCS and oil shale formations. It is no wonder Congress only has a 9% approval rating when they refuse to act in the interest of the American people. The SPR holds less than 800 mil. barrels and is meant for exactly as it is named and not for release to relieve the price at the pump, it is for the military as a strategic asset to protect us. Meanwhile our domestic sources hold enough to keep the US going for at least another century and definately till some sort of viable alternative can be developed. The Democrats say it will take to long to bring those new sources online to make any difference in the price today but that is a myth as any future increase in supply will put downward pressure on the futures market that is driving the price today plus oil companies say many of those sources could be pumping in as little as two years not 7-10. The Investors Business Daily has a great article dispelling several myths that the Democrats are attempting to pedal to the American people as we suffer through this rapid rise in energy prices that is trickling through the rest of the economy. Yes, the Democrats are stuck on stupid and that is a fact.
