Talk About Nasty Air

The smoke here in the Sacramento valley is so thick it resembles the fog that envelopes the area in the winter. One of the major fires is about 45 minutes north of me and threatening the quaint little town of Paradise though it is hardly that at this time. This is largely a result of four decades of failed forestry policies brought on by all the environmentalists out here that have largely stopped all logging and forest thinning. I spend a lot of time in our bountiful forests and I can attest to the fact that they are grossly over grown thus causing these fires to burn much more intensely than they normally would. I know I would prefer to visit a forest that has been properly logged than one that does not exist at all because of fire and won't recover for decades because of the heat that these fires are burning with. They are basically sterilizing the ground which prevents even grass from taking root.
I just heard on the news that Paradise is being evacuated. Dang, it is such a pretty, ideallic little town and a very good friend of mine and his family live there. I call on my readers to send their prayers for those 10,000 residents, they need them.
