I Have Made A Decision

Based on McCain's smarmy. snide and unbased attacks on Mitt Romney and blatant lies and flip flops, I will sit out the presidential election if he is our GOP nominee. I will vote the down ticket for the GOP and McCain will do terrible damage to that as well even if it is Hillary. They are no different and he would roll over in compromise to the libs when they send him legislation. I cannot trust the man, Mr. Integrity, yeah right, he is a lying donkey ass kisser. The GOP has a major fight on it's hands this year and John McCamnesty, Mr Flip Flop is not the man to save the House That Reagan Built. Donald can call me and others like me deranged all he wants to but that only makes my position stronger. If our economy is to be destroyed I would just as soon it be under the Democrat brand and not the GOP's. I WILL NOT vote for John McCain under any reasons, for any reason. I cannot vote for someone that giggles while offering smarmy lies and smears about such a fair and decent man as Mitt is. He wants a fight, well I suggest us conservatives give him one he can't win. Don't whine about honest policy comparisons and then launch a dishonest smear campaign, that is Clinton politics. In the last week or so I have had McCain fanatics call me delusioned and deranged because I won't bow down and kiss his donkey ass. I have blasted McCain's policies but never attacked his supporters. THE WAR IS ON !!!!

Romney needs to stop using talking points on change and a broken washington and attack attack attack. not smear, but go after McCains positions. Bring up every little thing McCain has done to piss of the Republicans. Bring up all his dirty laundry to be aired out in public. He needs to hire Michelle Malkin as an adviser. Maybe get Ann Coulter too.

I may stand with you. I'm not sure yet. The big question for me is whether the Congress will be able to limit the damage done by Hillary or Obama. Both of them are socialists, but Hillary has more experience and more backing by the Dem machine. Obama is something of a babe in the woods, and if he's elected, I expect him to be "run" by the machine. The machine runs to socialism. Can it be controlled?
McCain is way too far to the left for me - but with enough roots in the Republican party that just _maybe_ he wouldn't do as much damage.
My question is whether the damage done by the Dems could be reversed by the next administration.
I need a crystal ball...!

Goat, my friend. I understand your justifications, but there is no justification to ever be complicit in the infliction of the Clintons or Obama on the American public.

wow, goat, welcome to my long-time-stated pov. the waters fine right here, ain't it?

look, my position has nothing to do with how rawly johnny boy is treating mitt. it has everything to do with how "the maverick" has treated we the people.

ron is right - if mitt is to have a snowball's chance in hell, he needs to drop his "change" rhetoric and start calling mccain on the carpet for every infraction. these things have to be front and foremost in the minds of all americans as they head to the voting centers on super tuesday and beyond.

the keating 5. the gang of 14. the bush tax cuts. mccain-feingold. protection of marriage (although i don't think that's a federal issue, that's NOT why mccain opposed it), global warming/climate change regulation, driling in anwar (or not), nuclear power (or lack of), opposing the overturning of roe v. wade, and so on and so forth.

most of the lemmings in this country only know about his heroic war record - he was a p.o.w. don't you know? so what. who cares. what does his record in congress say? that's what will kill his bid once and for all.

i will be going to my appointed polling place bright and early tuesday morning and i will cast my vote for romney. he wasn't my first choice, but i believe he is a choice that sort of works. i think my husband will be doing the same.

if enough others don't join us in this effort and mitt's campaign comes to an end, i will NOT be voting for john mccain in november. however, i will be voting.

as i have said before, i firmly believe that a person who doesn't vote forfeits the right to have an opinion on the affairs of the country. i refuse to forfeit my right to bitch.

so therefore, i will probably write in fred thompson - but it could just as easily be mickey mouse - so that i exercise my right to vote. however, i will have no responsibility for seeing either of the democrat nominees (for that is what mccain would be) elected.

Ron and Heidi you are both correct, Mitt needs to go into full on frontal assault mode. I will write in Romney in Nov if McCain is the nominee and double down working for down ticket Republicans in the House and Senate so we can at least block Hillary there.

Long time no see Paul, if John is the nominee then Hillary or Obama will kill him in the general election. He will be painted as a warmongering dottering old fool.

Goat,

Political prognosticating is not my expertise. But if Hillary is the Dem choice, don’t you think that McCain can get a lot of the Dems who actually see Hillary for what she is? Votes that Romney would not get. She is one hated woman, and that may be why Obama is getting the Democrat endorsements now. That may well be why McCain is getting the Republican endorsements.

What’s your take on this site to determine a person’s fit with the candidates? http://minnesota.publicradio.org/projects/ongoing/select_a_candidate/

How about dropping the arguments about McCain's past and Romney"s positions on the war and focus on the people's needs. Mitt and John both did a huge disservice to the Republicans and to conservative Americans in general last night. What about eggs being more than $2.00 and milk being more than $4.00? What about a grocery trip that used to cost $150 now costing $230? What about your raise at work not covering the increase your health care plan implemented? What about guaranteeing a sovereign USA and an unequivocal stand against a union with Canada and Mexico? What about a vision for how America is going to be strong and lead the world in...well....everything!? Watching them sit there and compete about who is more like Reagan was pathetic. To be like Reagan you would need to be like no other because Reagan was an individual and didn't follow anyone but lead the whole world in believing that America is great. He had vision and these jokers can't even see yet that they are blind. We need to hear again that America is great and we have great work to do.

Goat, You are right on, in your assessment of McCain. Where do we go from here coach??? Unless his win in Floria was the latino vote that he pandered to, WE can only hope that mitt comes through. stay well.....

Goat said...

Paul, Democrats hate Republican's more than they do the Clintons and want to win in a bad way. McCain will get painted as Bush on steroids by the MSM and his bomb, bomb Iran line played over and over in the MSM. Conservatives hate John McCain almost as much as they do the Clintons and will stay home or as I will do write in their guy.

TFF, one word for the increased cost of food, ethanol, it is a pipe dream. Mitt Romney does talk about the greatness of America and Her people all the time and his desire to see Her remain the greatest nation on Earth. He has the same sunny optimism that Reagan did that keeps from being able to go on the attack against McCain effectively.
Tapline, time to work our tails of for Romney, if you can afford to send him money or work phone banks if you have time, put a sign in your yard talk to coworkers, neighbors and friends that might be on the fence still. I have and have this site that has been pro-Mitt since the beginning.

You did a high G force, 180° turn regarding McCain, Goat (...in under 24 hours! Wow!), but I sure couldn't agree with you more heartily now. Romney was not my choice, as you know, but he is absolutely the only remaining acceptable choice when compared to John Boy. I will work my tail off to speak to as many Republicans about the dangers and history of liberal McCain between now and Tuesday. It is our last hope before finding ourselves with no choice.

DI,I said it would take a team of donkeys dragging me by vice-grips on my nose kicking and screaming to get me to vote for McCain and his performance last night made me decide I didn't want to suffer that.

defiant_infidel said...

Ummm... OK.

""A sincere congratulations to John McCain on a very hard fought win, I bitch about McCain alot but really will have little problem voting for him in November if he pulls it out. He may not be my favorite but he is still lightyears better than any of the dhimmicrats."

Oh Goat, I would be remiss if I didn't ask you not to withhold your vote. There is one huge difference between McCain and the Dems: McCain will not start pulling our troops out immediately! McCain is well schooled on national defense. I agree that it's the only thing going for him, but it's better than what we would get with either Hillary or Obama in office. Please rethink this decision. Please!

Relax. He's right until the primaries are over, at least. After that, it's nine months until the election. Think of it as a pregnancy - lots of time to get used to the idea. Lots of water still to go under the bridge, lots of time for plenty of discussion and debate if that's the way it goes.

TFF...what do you think the next president should do about the problems you are concerned about?

heidianne jackson said...

gayle, on the wot mccain is just not that much different from hillary or obama. he may not support a timetable for bringing the troops home, but he says he will close gitmo his first day in office and give constitutional rights and protections to enemy combatants. he's also not real strong on fisa and he doesn't support the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques."

for the record, i don't think shillary will bring the troops home either - she's just pandering at this point. and barry has let up some on his rhetoric as well. they both know they can't just bring them home if they are president - that only works if they are able to get it pushed through congress BEFORE one of them takes office...
